Let's see "I might trade the pick or trade down or stay put or . . ."

Have you ever listened to Howie talk about the draft? Putin is more forthcoming.

That is why Fedotov needs to be on team.

Plus this Hockey Canada thing is only getting worse, so we need to be prepared.
Have the Flyers been asked straight up about that with regards to Hart yet? I don't recall if it has.

People like Makar have had statements put out saying that they were not a part of it.

I think context clues with the parameters of the case ruled out Makar, Dante Fabbro, & Colton Point as they were the only non-CHL players on the team. There was like a small number of CHL players on the team that responded through their agent when asked claiming their innocence but Hart wasn’t one of them. This was in the early going though. They may have all bunkered down since it started getting more traction.

Edit: Missed Dante Fabbro all this time as another NCAA player along with the other two mentioned.

Fletcher has a history of trading down in the first round. What he says doesn't matter when it's already on record.
Trade downs are basically determined by scouting evaluations.

If they think the two RHDs or Gauthier are a tier above the next group they stay put and take the best one left, if they think there's not much difference the players available from 5-10 or so, they listen to offers.

I think they were focused on York when they traded down, so they passed on Boldy and didn't want Caufield.
And it made sense, if they felt York was as good as the other options, picking up that 2nd allowed them to trade up for Brink.

LOL. This is the guy who was AV’s longtime assistant, who was in the ECHL before last year. They switched him to the PP after French Mike was canned — that was great. Why is this guy still in the organization?!

Of all the coaches, they keep that greasy dinosaur piece of shit? This is the worst run organization in sports. Somewhere fans of the Detroit Lions and Pittsburgh Pirates are laughing at us.

You are assuming they know about it :)

They probably know Hart’s status in regards to that case/incident. There’s only a select few that are noteworthy players in the NHL right now. The biggest one in Makar was ruled out. So there’s only a few guys NHL teams would really have to PR for if they ended up being one of the eight. The others are like bottom of the lineup, fringe guys, minor leaguers, etc. who would/could be discarded easily to avoid the bad PR.

So the takeaways from the presser are:

1. They aren't trading up.
2. They aren't taking a goalie with their first pick.
3. They're open to trading down.
4. They rank players into tiers.
5. Farabee said he felt great after the surgery.
6. Ellis remains a complete unknown.
7. Sam, you aren't fooling anyone with your efforts to get management to tip their hand on players.

Fletcher has a history of trading down in the first round.

Trading down from 11 (hi, Matt Boldy) is drastically different than 5 though. In the risk averse NHL, GMs basically never trade down from the top 10, let alone top 5. Meanwhile, you have Brent Flahr quipping that he hopes they won't pick this high again.

A top 10 trade down swap hasn't happened since 2008. Garth Snow and the Islanders traded down from #5 (Luke Schenn!) to #7 for a 2nd+3rd. Then again from #7 to #9 for a 2nd. So, 14 years later, I'll be stunned if Chuck Fletcher bucks that trend. Not with a big righty defender and a power forward shooter on the board.

I’m going to say that any of you that want to trade down are batshit crazy.

Giving the Flyers any chance to try to “outsmart” the rest of the league isn’t going to end well. They love to try to show they know best, and it’s about as successful as my chances with Kate Upton.

Make the pick at 5. Go home, and get Fletcher a better haircut.

Didn't you always do this for Mason/Neuvirth or was that someone else?

I don't recall, but these are their SV percentages and games started in their two seasons together. I didn't include starts with Hart (44) & Jones (33) because I assumed everyone still remembered that they started roughly the same amount of games in the season that just finished.

15-16
Mason .918 (53)
Neuvirth.924 (29)

16-17
Mason .908 (54)
Neuvirth .891 (24)

One of Hart's issues is that he gets injured every single season so you need backups that can start at lot of games.

Offseasons always had me excited....this f***ing sucks
If I was to write a book about the Philadelphia Flyers organization since 2012, “This f***ing Sucks” would be in excellent title.

Intro: f***ing Hextall is an asshole by Bob Clarke
Chapters
1. There goes Pronger, we’re f***ed
2. Bryz and a walk in the woods
3. Fire Lavi now? Nope, waiting 3 games into the next season makes much more sense.
4. Who the f*** is Dave Hakstol
5. VLC, AMac and VdV oh my!
6. Trade everyone Ron, please
7. R.I.P. Ed, at least you don’t have to watch these clowns anymore
8. Who else do we know that can play goal?
9. Bob and Paul hate Ron, bye Ron and what the f*** is a Cale Makar?
10. Here comes Cuck, Brent & Mimsy
11. AV and pet French bartender, what could possibly go wrong
12. 7 years of Hayes, God hates us
13. A 2 month hot streak is just like winning the Cup, right?
14. It’s all Niskanen and covid’s fault!
15. Risto & Yandle because f*** you, that’s why
16. Bye AV, hi nicer clueless jackass
17. Yeah Torts will fix this, BWAHAHAHA!
18. Sell the f***ing team, please!

Burning assets or extra FA cap space on a backup would be stupid, so they will. Use the in-house cheapness. It's not like it matters this year. Or next, given how badly Fletcher has mangled this team. Maximize flexibility going forward.

Ah, the scouts. You mean those scouts who the pro-Fletcher crowd blames for blowing numerous drafts for years on end and who are almost entirely still in place despite that?

I do not feel gruntled at that possibility.
