That young and upcoming team for sure isn’t us……. So he’s locked in on one place and if the team he didn’t reply to is “young and upcoming” thy certainly sounds like the devils….

Bucci has been pushing it, sure as hell sounds like he is coming here but nothing matters until the paper is signed.

The hometown thing is a bit overblown, yeah Gaudreau wants to come back to the States and close to his family like Treliving said in his PR but NJ gets it done also. It's not like he Adam Foxed himself, he spent eight years in Calgary so I'm pretty sure the difference between NJ and Philadelphia isn't a big deal. Plus he's a hell of a lot better fit in an up and coming team like NJ than this dumpster fire that's going on.

It's really not though.

His hometown status is the main thing that seems to have him considering us. That's pretty well documented at this point.

Listen, I don't even want Johnny Hockey, but it's clear it's going to come down to us and someone else barring Fletch being able to clear space.

This will be the start of the revolution, and Cuck will be skinned alive, if the mouth breathers do not receive a JG offering at the altar. I don’t see how he makes a simple hockey trade now that can also clear out space. Teams know he is absolutely up against it and they’ll get every last ounce of value out of him.

Out of curiosity, how far are they able to go over the cap in the offseason? Is that a thing still?

Is it conceivable they sign him and deal with the cap following it?

We'll see. Would be such a bad move from his POV and also from the Flyers. It will definitely buy Cuck more time, JG is a great player and makes everyone better. May even make that corpse Hayes or whatever is left of him look good.

10%, 90.75 is the offseason max
So, theoretically, they could sign him to a ~$10M AAV contract and be right under that number....assuming Cap Friendly's number is accurate, which says they have $79.04M.

Of course, they will need to trade other players quickly to re-sign the RFAs.

Only problem with that is Cuck really backs himself into a corner, so he'd probably end up trading away our '23 1st and Florida's '24st

Oh for sure - it's kind of my line of thinking. It's probably the worst possible outcome. You get to sign JG, but then you have to trade other assets (Provy, Sanheim or TK, 1st round picks etc) just to get to compliance.

No one would take JvR without the 2023 first round pick.

Has a team ever been non-compliant at the start of the season yet? If not, that’s a new record low that I would love to see Chuck strive for.
