Have we stopped to think that Meltzer has never stopped being a mouth piece for the franchise and the Flyers have no plans of actually pursuing Gaudreau?

He’s just finally selling something that no one will buy. Fletcher is in the end game now with the entire fan base. He either signs Gaudreau or feels the fury of the Authentics while already feeling it from the rest.

I have been saying all along that JG isn’t coming here. Coming home to be on a bad team is enough incentive? Highly doubt it

Coming home to be close to family, play for the team you grew up loving, appease your SJ wife, and play with your best friend and another close friend? I think there’s more to it than you’re suggesting.

Just playing devils advocate, I don’t want them to sign JG.

I'm interested to see what they do in Goal. If you're taking CapFriendly as Gospel, be aware that they have Fedotov as the backup at 925k. If they're signing a vet, it's costing more.

D. Strome bad at D for a center, bad at faceoffs, very slow footspeed. Not enough extras for a top 6, and not enough grit for bottom 6. Looked bad on small sample size at wing. It would be a total lottery win if he can work as second center, because out of the two Hayes is the only one that can slot down lines and be effective.

To be fair to Strome he actually improved that aspect of his game and was over 50% this past year

The improvement in faceoffs and chemistry with Kane/Debrincat is essentially what got him moved back to C during season as well as fact Dach was awful and Toews spent half of season looking like corpse (Played better in 2nd half of season) while Hawks had no other options worth a damn at C

If the only thing standing between Gaudreau and the Flyers is JVR's contract, that contract is getting moved within the next few hours. It does not matter the cost. It's going to get moved.

My guess is that it will be for the 2023 1st with Top 2 or 3 protection to Chicago.

At which point Fletcher is just the league's rebuild welfare program.

We did?
Out: 2 seconds and a 5th
In: 1, 3, 4

looks pretty even to me.
We lost our 14 OA last year, our 2nd this year, our 3rd in 2020.
Under Hextall we had two 1sts in 2018 and 2017, and three 2nds in 2016 while still having a better product on ice. Much better asset management even if some of those picks didn't hit (four are now regulars for us).

I'm shocked there's anyone that doubts that. This has nothing to do with how you or I would approach free agency or the org as a whole. If he picks them, they're doing it.

Thy can’t possibly let Gaudreau go to the Devils. There are very few things that can turn the older diehard season ticket holders against this team at this point more than Gaudreau signing with the Devils.

Yep - it would be one of the biggest ego blows in the history of the organization

The wild card here and the reason I think it gets done here is Kevin Hayes - I have no f***ing clue why but this dude might be the biggest influencer in the NHL
