Does this suggest he'll play in the AHL next season?

Texas is gonna have a very different blue-line next year. Need spots for Grushnikov, Bischel (both LD), Kyrou, White (both RD). Maybe Laaksonen, I don't know much about him.

The team also has to make decisions on Brinkman, Sjolund, and Holmes (all LD) this offseason. Their rights will expire.

Barteaux (RD) is also an RFA.

It also would fit Nill's MO well to have at least one vet on that defense as well.

I'm not sure any of the current guys have earned that, maybe Butcher but I could see him looking elsewhere, trying to get some NHL time again.

Maybe Brendan Smith, if he's willing to start in the AHL?

Contract has a European opt out clause. Maybe this gets decided after prospect camp ( if Bichsel is ready by then ) if he plays in NA or goes back to a club in Europe

I think Texas may bring back Ryan Shea and or Petrovic if they want

Broke his ankle in an exhibition game and signed the contract in hospital instead of playing his first world championships. Yet another tough break for the kid who missed a big junk of last season with a concussion.

He could have been NHL ready by now if he stayed healthy but he needs at least another year now. The Stars organization has enough defenders both at NHL and AHL level. They don't really need Bichsel and I'm not sure Bichsel is interested in playing AHL. Especially coming off yet another injury I think it makes sense for Bichsel to stay in Leksands or maybe play one last year at home in Switzerland. Next year the situation in Dallas will be different and Bichsel will likely be given every chance to crack the NHL roster...be it out of camp or later in the season.

We'll see but I think he should stay in Europe for one more year and then move over to Texas.

I think the fact they signed him is a good indication he'll be in Texas next year. They could have just waited a year and not burned a year on his ELC. I think Kyrou is in the same boat.
We'll see. As I said I don't think the Stars really need him next season. If it's not for trades or terrible luck with injuries they're rather set both at AHL and NHL level. After that year the situation will likely be much different with several players on expiring contracts.

I think the Bichsel signing was a combination of three things:
Firstly just a nice touch by Jim Nill to call Bichsel in hospital and offer that contract. That's a nice bit of moral support for a kid who was heartbroken after suffering yet another injury and missing out on his first world championships.
Secondly, this gives the Stars more influence/power with the upcoming decisions such as rehab and, most importantly, where to play. It's possible that the Stars want him to play AHL but even if not they still have more of a say if he's gonna play internationally (like for example in the WJC20), for which team he's gonna play and they get to potentially negotiate ice time and usage (PK/PP etc.)
Lastly, if Bichsel stays in Europe, signing him gives the Stars the opportunity to bring him over for postseason.

Here's the video of the injury. Watch at your own risk...it's as ugly as it gets.

That comment was about Seminoff not Bichsel.

Blazers eliminated from WHL Championship contention, they'll have to cool their heels until the Memorial Cup begins.

Seminoff 1 goal while they were trying to mount a comeback with the goalie pulled.

Basically whenever it was Bankier-Stankoven-Seminoff out there with Zellweger they dominated. Anyone else and Seattle had the advantage.

Kamloops plays their last Round Robin game on May 31st. Possibly a win-and-in scenario for the final.

Why are we dunking on *checks notes* William Stromgren?

Pretty well known that draft is a gigantic fluke due to a global pandemic
