If the Penguins would have beat the Hawks in the last game of the season would the Panthers have missed the playoffs? Hockey is crazy
It really could go down as one of the more impactful regular season games in NHL history. If the Penguins win that game…
- Florida doesn’t go on this magical run and it’s likely either Boston or Toronto are playing right now. If it’s Toronto there’s a good chance Dubas is still the GM.
- Does Paul Maurice get fired after taking a team who won the PT last season and then misses the playoffs this season? Would that be a landing spot for Lavi since he lives in Florida?
- Pittsburgh probably doesn’t fire Hextall if they make the playoffs. Now they’re rumored to be between Dubas and Tulsky, either of which are huge upgrades over Hextall.
- The Blackhawks would finish with the worst record in hockey so they wouldn’t be lottery team #3 — Columbus would — so the Bluejackets would have won the Bedard lottery.
- Bob might get traded this summer after he was benched for Alex Lyon and the narrative that he’s a playoff choker gets even louder. Now this run may solidly his place in the Hall of Fame and who knows, maybe Florida trades Knight now?
Just a massive butterfly effect from that one game.
