That Makar hit on McCann was only a shade less hate and a shade less unexpected than the notorious Hunter hit on Turgeon that earned Dale 20 games. Obviously, his rap sheet was longer than Makar’s, but there’s no mitigating explanation or justification for that hit.

That Tampa board is pretty cringe to read. Three Cup Finals in a row with two rings to show for it and their whole team sucks, the core is old and they should tear it down and rebuild, Vasi is a bum and should be traded, JBB ruined what Stevie Y built and should be fired, etc etc.
Am I the only one rooting for Toronto? If any team understands playoff heartbreak and inventing new ways to lose it’s us. I like seeing other teams not in our division break through.
Also, the hierarchy of teams I don’t like in the Metro is becoming clear to me. I am actively rooting for New Jersey and the Islanders. I think I dislike Carolina more than any other team in the league.

They are right. Whole team is awful and they should burn it down. We could take on a couple of their useless cap dumps like Brayden Point and Mikhail Sergachev if they throw in a couple of picks.
Agreed. I propose a swap of Point + Kucherov + Sergachev + Hagel for Kuznetsov + Mantha + Backstrom + Oshie. Both teams win in this scenario: the Lightning fans can actually watch their team tank like they claim they want to and the Caps can be Cup contenders again. Trade for Ehlers too while we’re at it. Drool.

I'm rooting for the Leafs. They made 4 playoff runs to the 3rd round from '93 to '02, and the way the atmosphere in their building intensified with each round was pretty great. Love their jerseys too - their fans are certainly tiresome know-it-alls, but lots of hockey fans (including me!) are like that.
Also rooting for the Wild, Oilers, Kracken, and Devils. Have vaguely favorable feelings toward the Bs because of the ex-Caps

Toronto is my B team these days. Hated the Domi/Tucker era growing up here (loved Sundin though), but the modern Leafs are much easier to root for.
I'm with you on the Canes, just a whiny team with a whiny coach, very little to like there.

I'm rooting for the Leafs...atleast in this series but i'm kind of on the fence. I find it really hard to root for Samsonov or Matt Murray so i'm hoping they run with Joseph Woll all the way.

With you on the Canes: Hate the team, the coach, the storm celly or whatever the hell that is, and their fans. My brother recently went to a game and he said he never smelled so much Skoal in one place since he went to a nascar race.
I'll take the B's in the east...the Krackheads in the west. Without Makar, don't see the Avs winning that series.
Leafs fans: terrible and Auston is still a frat-kook.

There are multiple teams like that. It's a shame Morrissey got injured, it would have been funny to see what Vegas would have done had they lost in R1.
If we are thinking for the Caps, Canes and Avs losing would be good for Kuznetsov interest.

Luckily Boston will make short work of them in the next round
Canes, Avs, Jets, G-Knights, Leafs, Bruins, Panthers, Isles, Oilers, and maybe the Wild will all be teams going thru some major summer changes if/when they lose. Some due to need for shakeups, some due to salary imploding rosters.
Add in Flames, Penguins, Capitals, Blues, and Predators that all “underachieved”……as well as teams like the Flyers, Sharks, Canadians, Bluejackets and Blackhawks that were bad and with the right draft positioning “may” want to swap for the 8th pick ….a lot is going to percolate. I would think a LOT
(And then there is Vancouver, who sits in a slot all of their own, and could do literally anything).

As good as Boston has been Matthews/Tavares/O'Reilly/Kampf vs barely standing 37 yo Bergeron/36yo Krejci/Zacha/Coyle is a pretty ugly mismatch. Though Boston's edge on defense is comparably massive
