I am not sure this is the best idea from a religious point-of-view. Let’s smash this religious figure in the face with pucks.

As a religious person (no need to say which one or to what extreme) I would find it odd to put imagery from my religion on a place that can end up face down on the ice and getting hit with pucks. Same reason I wouldn't put an American flag on my pads.

Luckily I'm not a rich NHL goalie so I don't have to worry about it and my pads are just the plain Vaughn pads in black and white.

I get what you're saying. To add some context that some people may not be aware of, the main image comes from the "Word of Life" mural on Notre Dame's campus which has already long been affectionately dubbed "Touchdown Jesus" (even by leaders within the religion and University). Similar to the Golden Dome at the bottom of the pads, it's an iconic and respected part of campus. Not saying that makes it right and I do get your point of view, but some context may help understand why it's on the pads.

I'm normally much more of a "clean, simple, mostly blank white with subtle highlights" sorta guy when it comes to pad preferences. A lot of the really elaborate, and graphic sort of designs just end up looking so goofy to me. But this guy...that's three stunning examples of doing it right. Those are all wicked.
