Anyone who puts them last hasn’t listened to very many broadcasting crews.

In Finland we no longer have the option of choosing which broadcast to listen to. Having listened to a lot of opposing teams' and national broadcasts, many of them are just incompetent or homers. If I recall correctly (and I'm probably not), I think Seattle and TNT were fairly good.

I think Ahlers isn't great but I like his voice and associate it closely with Ducks hockey so I can forgive the misnaming and streaks of dead he air he gives sometimes (literally there was a game last year where a player got a breakaway and it was complete silence from him, no excitement or anything).

Hazy I think is great though. Very informative and I like that he comes at it from a goaltenders perspective because the nuances of that position are definitely a bit of a blind spot for me.

If the Ducks were to lose one or both of Hazy or Ahlers, I don't know that I would consider it a big loss, or that they're irreplaceable, though I think the people that want them gone because they have an issue with either for whatever reason should be careful what they wish for

I don't mind Hayward. He's toned down somewhat on his outrage at penalty calls/non calls, and I don't think he was ever as much a homer as some other color guys for other teams. Ahlers isn't the worst pbp guy, but his needs to find some new shtick. "Coast to coast like buttered toast," "Look out, cook out," "From the ladies' tee." "Top shelf where your momma don't dust" are getting old. I also wish he would stick to the play-by-play instead of wandering off on some tangent. There have been several times when something happens on the ice (like a goal) and he completely misses the call because he talking about God knows what.

I think they've been generally okay - but you can tell that there's not a lot of innovation in the stuff that they say or do. It gives a pretty bland vibe and there's not a lot of inflection in either one of their voices.

Hazy has shown he is recognizing the game is changing and the skill from today is much different than it was 10 or 20 years ago, which makes me feel like he's less of a boomer than originally thought.

Would I be disappointed if they left? Probably not, but it does mean that the organization will be evolving very soon.

I’m listening to the Tampa radio call and their color guy is the worst I have ever heard in any sport ever. It’s bad.
If we were listening to the same crew, I couldn’t agree more. That guy had me chuckling. Sounds like he’s 80 years old. Always talking over the PBP.

Ya it made it literally unbearable.

It was like sitting next to a fan at a game that groans/gets excited and literally everything. He was like in his own world where the PBP was mid sentence and he goes "Oh cmon Stammer" over the PBP guy.

I can't believe their fans put up with that.

Pretty sure that’s Phil Esposito. I don’t have a problem with radio guys being ultra-homers. They probably aren’t getting exposure from anyone but the hardest of hardcore fans.

It wasn't him being a homer that was the problem. It was that he actually made following the play by play impossible with the interrupting and random sounds he was making lol.

Oh, lol. Well, anyway i doubt he's going anywhere, and fortunately i haven't heard too many other guys around the league who do that.

I frequent the Tampa area often when I‘m down in Florida, and yeah their radio broadcast is Phil Espositio and Dave Mishkin. Yes, Ultra Homers, but it’s their local radio show.

I find Tampa and Anaheim to have a lot of similarities as far as the arena, and hockey markets go. Fan friendly and they both even have the banners of the players on the main street.

And don’t forget, Tampa gifted us Ahlers. ;)
