Gilchrist must be the guy who’s often seen standing beside players and coaches in interviews. Get overbearing vibes from him.alex gilchrist, senior director of comms and broadcasting, with bill foltz, the ceo running the entire ocvibe project.

don't think a director level personnel would be manning the press conference. i haven't take note on that guy but i'm guessing that's the comm manager?Gilchrist must be the guy who’s often seen standing beside players and coaches in interviews. Get overbearing vibes from him.
sad to see someone lose their job but he was the weaker of the 2 on the radio broadcast imo.
Having said that I would much rather lose Hayward. It’s crazy to me that he still has a job.
careful for what you wish for... we might get the annoying rat Jim Fox or Tyson Nash... or the annoying lady commentator (forgot her name)sad to see someone lose their job but he was the weaker of the 2 on the radio broadcast imo.

You bring up an interesting thought. With Bally on the way out and no future TV plans yet in sight, I wonder if there will be a big shakeup on the TV side relative to some new direction we are not yet privy to?I’m thinking they’re going to clear house with radio & tv, just waiting for the other contracts to expire.
At his age, Hazy is better off being a TV Studio Analyst on the Pre and Post game shows. I’ve never been a fan of Ahlers. The Ducks have the worst TV guys in SoCal compared to the other teams. I’ve always been jealous of the Kings. They went from Bob Miller to Alex Faust.I don't mind Hazy or Ahlers, it seems like Hazy especially has moderated in the past couple years and has become more critical of the team. they are both still fans I think, but aren't over the top or clownish, imo. I think it's important for your TV guys to be fans and passionate about the team. It would be weird if they were both let go at the same time.
Man I could not disagree more. Holy wow.At his age, Hazy is better off being a TV Studio Analyst on the Pre and Post game shows. I’ve never been a fan of Ahlers. I miss "let's talk about it"Ahlers and Hazy bug you because you see and hear them constantly and have for 20 and 30 years. Familiarity breeds contempt. Every team has a Hazy who is a homer. Ahlers only bugs you because he uses the same catch phrases year-in and year-out.
Huge plus 1 our guys are very good and professional.Man I could not disagree more. Holy wow.
John Ahlers sucks. No idea why they dumped Chris Madsen for this guy, but Madsen was a much better play by play guy.Man I could not disagree more. Holy wow.

Think they were voted last in an Athletic article last year. I like them because I’m used to them, but they’re not in the top half of commentators in the league.

Really? You enjoy them? Ahlers doesn't make the game sound exciting while Hayward is cringe to listen to.
I love Hayward's cringe and his snide comments lolReally? You enjoy them? Ahlers doesn't make the game sound exciting while Hayward is cringe to listen to.
Ahlers is better in his radio role when doing the SCF.
these statments are shocking to say the least. I've been hoping they had a new duo for quite some time.
You guys have Sam Rosen and Kenny Albert. Spread the wealth.I like Hazy and Ahlers. I think they are informative are not really homers. They will praise an opposing team and talk about their players. That‘s what you want, it’s not just about the Ducks even if it is their home broadcast.
After listening to some other broadcasts, the Ducks are lucky to have them.
Can't think of a worse way to support the point than through an Athletic poll.Think they were voted last in an Athletic article last year. I like them because I’m used to them, but they’re not in the top half of commentators in the league.
Hazy's been doing it for 30 years (for one team!) and still manages to say things in interesting ways, and to point out new things.I like listening to Ahlers and Hazy. Ahlers is an okay PxP guy and has his signature quotes. I like radio PxP Carroll more than Ahlers, though. Hazy, I love listening to Hazy. I learned a lot about hockey from listening to Hazy as he brings a lot of depth to game knowledge and perspectives on the ice. He praises players and plays on both teams as well as criticize both teams when warranted. Seeing Hazy host on a national level solidifies he's good. I think he hosted Olympic hockey too, iirc.
There's just a level of comfort listening to Hazy throughout the years. Hell, he interpreted Verbeek's presser better than Verbeek could speak it.
One of the things i think they do best, and better than a lot of crews, is finding that perfect combo of being fans, while also being genuinely critical at times. when they are critical, it isn't awkward either because they've established that reputation.Anyone who puts them last hasn’t listened to very many broadcasting crews. Ahlers isn’t great with Joe he confuses players, but they’re not even bottom 10 when you evaluate on combined listenability and grotesque levels of homerism.
Our guys are the mix you want for a local broadcast. They’re supposed to be homers, they’re selling tickets. They’re not supposed to be Jack Edwards where no Bruin has ever done worse than a draw in a fight, nor actually ever performed an infraction. (Which is too bad, because he’s great at play by play). One of the things i think they do best, and better than a lot of crews, is finding that perfect combo of being fans, while also being genuinely critical at times. when they are critical, it isn't awkward either because they've established that reputation.
The Boston guys for example are hugely grotesque homers, and most of the time are just putting down the other team and even making fun of opposing players. I think Ahlers/Hazy have found the right balance of wanting the Ducks to win, but also being comfortable pointing things out that they are struggling with. that's exactly what you want from a local broadcast.
