Sounds like They're really cleaning house. I assume this is all on PV. Seems like he wants to erase our history and start his own across the entire board. Really hope we don't regret the faith we've all put in him to make a better team.

They might find the new streaming team and our radio stuff redundant and want to integrate them as much as possible.

I don’t see how the GM in charge of hockey operations is influencing the broadcasting part of the franchise, unless I misinterpreted your post

I believe this decision would come from Club President Aaron Teats, but I could be mistaken. it's either him or Director of Communication and Broadcasting Alex Gilchrist, it definitely wouldn't be Verbeek though

The streaming on the official site has a pre-game and post-game category. There isn't a radio feed, it's all streaming. Are they really cutting back or are they trying to put in a younger voice?

You might be right, but I dunno... seems ironic that's the case (PV not wanting many ties with the past) with most other aspects of the team/management, and now it's happening in other parts of the org.

Lol what? Why would hockey operations have any say in the broadcast team?

see my post above.

p.s. Sorry, but I don't trust the guy and his reach... he's (PV) spewed alot of bs so far in his tenure. It could entirely be coincidental, but to this point he doesn't get the benefit of the doubt from me.

So if you trusted what he said in interviews, you wouldn’t have the impression the Samuelis randomly gave him power over the broadcast team? Seems like you just don’t like the guy and are tying everything you don’t like about the organization to him?

It's possible the org is preparing a "new beginning" (let's hope it involves new jerseys) for this next season with the coming influx of elite talent.
The fact that we moved to streaming makes me surprised this stuff is a shock to anyone, sure those guys were kept on Ducks Stream for last season but it’s obvious the team has planning a major overhaul to that area of content for awhile now

It's a little more than that, but yeah I don't like him and he has work to do to win me back. I'm still holding out hope things change with a good draft and see what he builds from here.

If you think about it, the Ducks aren't a big TV draw and their radio broadcasts have to be even less listened to. Technology has changed tremendously and to the extent that people listen rather than watch, podcasts are where it's at. I don't know how that would tie in, but it makes sense that some kind of changes on the audio side are needed. The old platform is dying if not already dead.

What will be interesting is to see how, if at all, the changes are incorporated into the TV side. I wouldn't be surprised if they were.

I think ownership just wants to move in a different direction entirely. They’re ready for a new era of hockey in every way and I’m happy to see it
The changes began after PV was hired, though. But it could also be that other contracts are expiring and they've been planning to move into streaming for a while. Could come from Merit Tully (or higher), or it could be part of an overall community vision that PV sold (no idea if Tampa has a robust community/media presence).

I'm thinking that Ducks' stream game broadcast is reaching more people than the local radio broadcasts to where we can't find on air. The stream is much easier to find since it's on the official website and they've been advertising it.

There must have been a review panel on the on-air personalities with the game broadcast and post-game call-ins. They want someone younger with energy as well as not having some kinda of speech impediment.

If no new personalities are added, then we can say it's a cost cutting thing.

I kinda would lean towards these decisions not being made by Verbeek, but not gonna lie, it’s a thought that’s run through my head. It could be a general idea he sold them as well and they liked it and others executed this outside of any actual demands from him.
