Rögle is looking to sign the top goalie in the top Czech league to replace Clang because of it. Johan Svensson(as credible to Swedish hockey as Bob McKenzie is to the NHL) says the plan has always been for him to come over 2023/24.

Clang and Alexander is continuing the trend of a super young team in San Diego next season. At least in regards to defense and goaltending. Anyone have an idea of what the forward group might look like?

I would guess that perhaps Alexander will be in the ECHL next year. Sign a free agent with more AHL (and preferably some NHL) experience to split in SD with Clang and fill a #3 role for the Ducks. I think we are typically five or six goalies deep on the NA pro depth chart (2 NHL, 2 AHL and at least one ECHL)

Maybe there's a similar project to young Stolarz to be plucked from the upcoming free agent pile.

More than half of our forwards would fit right in with SD.

I know you kid but I would keep someone like Megna around for AHL leadership, if he doesn't get an NHL job somewhere next year. Would be a huge help to the Gulls right now.

The last list I saw of his he had Michkov ranked like #16.... I stopped following him. I'm sure now today he has him higher but he was straight trolling before. I'll listen now though since it's about the Ducks.

EDIT: Drysdale take was exactly how I feel about him....

That was actually a really good listen. He explained McTavish perfectly that he has lost his rage and physicality because he wants to focus on his skill (which is good thing). I also completely agree with his take on McTavish and Edvinsson. I guess he earned a follow again lol

Luneau is going to shoot up those rankings next year when he gets put on the WJC team, it will be a coming out party for him at this rate.

Don't forget the dark horse Hvid the Kid potentially jumping up into the top-10.

hold up... Pasta isn't even ranked in the top-10? We only have two forwards listed in our top-10?! That's sad.

THN rankings are always all over the place.

Yeah they typically do the polling right after the WJC, so there can be some recency bias there.

I'm not sure if they still do it, but back in the day the teams would actually provide the top 10 list. The writer responsible for the Islanders mentioned that there was a reason for Casey Cizikas and Kevin Poulin being absent. Namely because they hadn't signed and had the option of re-entering the draft. The team internally had them ranked higher, but didn't want a PR situation of losing a prospect because they couldn't sign him.

Eventually both signed and Cizikas/Poulin were properly ranked the following year.

Scouching and his rankings should always be taken with a grain of salt. The guy is terrible at analysis
I appreciate him always giving reasoning, but yeah he has been wrong quite a few times.
Still, a nice listen IMO.

Snippet from THN's upcoming Future Watch issue.

Rating U21 or U23 systems is so much better representation than just the prospect pools.
I disagree with this training of our prospects, but being among the top franchises sounds about right.

Still, a nice listen IMO.

I appreciate all of Scouching's work, but he does have a certain bias. I don't recall him doing video breakdowns until Draft Dynasty got hired by an NHL club. Before then, he was all stats.

As for his talk on McTavish, he seemed like he was doublespeaking. Why not just say he was wrong on McTavish's projection and he's probably the exception. Scouching did agree that McTavish had the biggest leap in development, but still didn't believe he had top end talent as he pegged McTavish to being a solid 3rd liner or possibly a 2nd line winger center.

Go to 24:30 for McTavish's breakdown. It should start there. (Ohhh... @Leonardo87 , Scouching did cover Othmann at the start of this video. Just as harsh on Othmann as he was on McTavish.)

The thing about Scouching's interview is that he's speaking of McTavish like he should be a finished product already. McTavish just turned 20 in his rookie season in the NHL. McTavish has 36 points in 61 NHL games as a 19-year old rookie, but Scouching thinks his ceiling is 60 points per year in the NHL. Scouching still isn't buying in on McTavish.
