Pastujov finished today 1+1, now 18+18 in 23 and third in OHL scoring.

Gaucher returned to the lineup today and was scoreless on three shots, four hits, 11/20 on faceoffs in a 5-3 win. He was named third star of the game despite not logging a point.

Pasta getting traded to Sarnia has had a big spike in his production and plus/minus rating. Last season with Guelph, Pasta had a scoring rate of 1.17 ppg (34g+42a and -12 rating). He still needs to work on that skating.

We know there's going to be an influx of defensemen going pro next year, but I didn't even think about our forward group.

Forwards going pro in 2023-24
W Pastujov
C Gaucher

Forward who need signing in 2023-24
LW Tschigerl

Forward who could be signed for 2023-24
RW Colangelo (Junior season)

We do have a lot of UFA's and low level RFA's to accept 5D and 4F next season.

I do think hinds is a dark horse to make Canada, but we will probably only have two prospects to watch in this WJC, which might be the least ever.

Not too surprised after how he was utilized during the summer. The coaches just didn't trust him.
Leaman is making some really brain dead choices here, pasta even managed to almost be a point per game with no ice time last year lol. Haven’t even heard of some of the guys on this team, and Boucher, who is a top 10 pick in his d2 year in the O and still can’t even hit a ppg. Sad that 2 years in a row the US team is going to be a lolcow right off the heels of the arguably the greatest team they’ve ever had.

While I don’t think any coach is above reproach it’s been a very common theme with Pastujov that the hockey world doesn’t rate him nearly as high as the internet does.

The increasingly common sentiment seems to be that he's more of a (very) talented one trick pony rather than a true top prospect, by way of still mostly being a powerplay and perimeter offensive player.

He's still a project, a very skilled one but probably not one we should expect to see arrive before some lengthy AHL seasoning, and very much a high risk/reward type.

Will be a big tournament for Zellweger. He was one of the next possible MVP's last year behind McTavish and this year he's having a worse year in the WHL than he did last season. If he can back it up with a stellar performance in the WJC again, I would be happy.

Regarding Pasta... damn.
McTavish is still eligible but won't go, and Minty cannot go because Russia. Had we taken some Euros with the latest picks in 21 or even 22, we would have more prospects in the tourney, but potentially 2 or 3 representing prospects will stil obviously not tell the tale of the strenght of our org. Not that we couldn't do better with some of our picks ofc.

Prosepct Update, pt 1: CHL, USHL, and NCAA

Highlights

Pasta is a rocket man with his new team, Sarnia. His scoring rate is 1.89!
CHL Defensmen: 4/5 are still scoring at a ppg rate.
NCAA Defensemen: 2/3 are still scoring at a ppg rate.

It appears that the Ducks are lacking top scoring forward talents in its system from this table.

Dec 4th Prospect Update, pt 2: Euro, AHL, and NHL

Highlights

➡️ G Buteyets has not played for a few weeks since being loaned to the KHL Sochi. :(
➡️ LW Regenda has been sent down to the AHL recently. Finally, the AHL gets top talent back! The AHL club has been decimated with injuries, rotating between several players.

2023 Draft focus

🔥 Top-6 scoring forwards. Our best scoring prospect forward not in the NHL is 3rd rd Pastujov.

i noticed perreault only has 6 goals in 21 games so far in SD. seems pretty underwhelming

I'd be curious if someone who is watching the games in SD is observing how he's doing.
He looks the same as he always does. He's a quick strike player and when he's not scoring he's useless just like Pasta. Hopefully he can figure it out at the pro level.

The production is disappointing. The thing is even those type of players usually put up a higher ppg in the AHL than Perreault is, and this is like his 3rd season now. The likes of dman debris like Juolevi and Brouillard are outscoring him.
