Gaucher is a slightly bigger, straight-line faster skater, and a more willing pugilist than Groulx.
Groulx is listed at 6'2 and 198 lbs, at Elite Prospects. A 2018 second round pick, 54th overall.
Gaucher is listed at 6'3 and 207 lbs. A 2022 first round pick, 22nd overall.
When drafted, both prospects were known for being shutdown defensemen with a potential for more scoring.
Draft Year | | | | | | | | | | |

Groulx | D + 0 | 2017-18 | QMJHL | 68 | 28 | 27 | 55 | 0.81 | | 9 |
Gaucher | D + 0 | 2021-22 | QMJHL | 66 | 31 | 26 | 57 | 0.86 | | 30 |
Aside from plus/minus, both were productive as defensive pivots in their draft year. Since both belong to the QMJHL, we can actually compare apples to apples with the style of play for that league... somewhat.

Gaucher | D + 1 | 2022-23 | QMJHL | 19 | 13 | 11 | 24 | 1.26 | | 15 |
The pattern here still holds as defensive centers in their D+1 season.

Groulx was impressive in his D + 3 season in the AHL that he earned a starting fourth line center position in 2021-22!
2021-22 starting centers to start the season:
1C Getz
2C Zegras (age 20)
3C Lundy (age 21)
4C Groulx (age 21)
Groulx struggled as an NHL 4C and was sent down to the AHL. Unfortunately, there were new coaches and a new scheme in San Diego where Groulx' play took a step back.
With a new season, new coaching staff, and new scheme, it looks as though Groulx has found his productivity once again this season. Currently, Groulx is tied for 2nd in scoring for San Diego.
I think Groulx is the rough template for Gaucher. Anaheim's gonna need to replenish its bottom-6 soon. Grant is an UFA after this season. Silf and Carrick are UFAs the next season. We could form a fast, shutdown line of the future with Groulx-Lundy-Gaucher that can quickly counter offensively. That would be nice.
