Fire Greg Cronin!
What’s up with Tschigrel? He seemed to make an impression during training camp a while ago. Did he fall off too?
Weird timing to ask this given he has been on a heater latelyWhat’s up with Tschigrel? He seemed to make an impression during training camp a while ago. Did he fall off too?
His team is terrible. He isn't a top prospect who is going to rise above that, but I still think he has a good shot as a bottom six winger. He plays hard. What’s up with Tschigrel? He seemed to make an impression during training camp a while ago. Did he fall off too?
I'm not even sure if he gets an AHL PTO.WM lost and Perbix is now eligible to sign, becomes a UFA 8/15
LaCombe just took a hit directly to his cage. The other player received a major penalty. LaCombe seemed ok and he is on the PP right now.

A pretty good read. Size doesn't magicaly solve all problems, but lack of it can be a huge disadvantage. Drysdale = hurt for the whole year. Last playoffs Sam Girard on the Avs was absolutely crushed so taken out of their run early... That's on top of any casual battle where bigger forwards often dominate
I've been wondering about it for a while and I don't think that we can make deep runs with both Dry and Zell on the team. Well, one of them has yet to crack pro hockey ofc
Torey Krug, Vatanen, Girard, Phil Housley, SpurgeonThis is the biggest reason I'm not all that optimistic on Zellweger to be honest. How many skaters his size even play as NHL defenseman to begin with, let alone as a reliable top 4. Spurgeon is one of the only guys I can think of. I wonder if he tried to make things work as a forward at some point and just couldn't stand out from the pack, since smaller wings in the NHL are way more common. That seems like a much easier path to the NHL.
Mintyukov is probably our best hope right now to turn into a 1D given his physical profile and skillset, and if he flames out then we're likely going to have a big hole there for a while with Lindholm gone. Drysdale has bulked up since being drafted and is much closer to the prototypical size of an NHLer, he's not really on the same planet physically as Zellweger.
Ideally, Zell can play on the "3rd" pair (if the Ducks don't have a true 1D, hopefully they'll have a 2A/2B/2C pairing), with Minty leading one pair, Dry on another, and Zell on the 3rd. He'd definitely need to be paired with a bigger DFD. Might have to be with Benoit, and keep them as a true 3rd pairing (like Vats/Stoner) but with Zell getting more PP time. But with LaCombe/Moore/Warren/Hinds/future picks and the Ducks track record with d-men, hopefully a higher than normal number will pan out. This is the biggest reason I'm not all that optimistic on Zellweger to be honest. He doesn't have Krug's grit....I think Krug is really a pretty good projection for Zellweger. A 2nd pairing LHD who brings it offensively enough to make up for his deficiencies. Would take that in a heartbeat
We don’t need him to be Makar or Fox
I think Pavel is on the right track to becoming #1 pairing. Once he hits an NHL weight room and gets the development from ducks personal, he will shine. He seems to adjust accordingly. He his a high IQ and somewhat of a killer instinct. Zell will be a dynamo no matter where he plays. I honestly have extremely high hopes for Luneau and believe he will be a C one day.I think Krug is really a pretty good projection for Zellweger. And yes we do need him to be [Makar or Fox]...
Honest question (and not necessarily directed at you), what is Minty's work ethic like? He seems to be another one of those guys that has a strong willingness to learn, sounds like he's learning a more structured game with his new team? One of the best things about the current crop of kids (for the most part) is their work ethic. Zegras couldn't score a goal in his first WJC, improved his shot dramatically after (I'm not so sure that he isn't just improving because of ego). From what everyone says on McTavish, he's the first on the ice and last off and willing to work with (and more than that approaching) coaches and older players to get advice. Sucks that Dry lost a year and we couldn't see if he was going to make a huge leap, but even before being drafted he was attending clinics. Zell has been putting on muscle and working out in the offseason (apparently), so it seems like he's putting in effort. Hoping Minty is one of those guys and these kids develop this as a team culture going forward.I think Pavel is on the right track to becoming #1 pairing. He seems to adapt to each environment pretty well. Even if it may take some time, once he does he thrives. To me, he’s a coaches dream.Honest question (and not necessarily directed at you), what is Minty's work ethic like?
