Dylan Larkin is probably someone I'd be ok moving Bo Byram for in a trade.

I doubt Detroit moves him though or that Larkin even wants to leave his home state where he captains the team. Yzerman probably preaching patience to the guy

I can already see how that would turn out. Larkin demands to be traded back home after part of a season, Byram-Seider is Neidermayer-Pronger if they played on the same pairing.

Horvat keeps piling on points game after game and his value is going higher and higher.

Reminds me so much of Kadri last year. Someone is going to buy at an all-time high, both in assets and in AAV.

Like those people who bought Bitcoins at 60k per in 2021.

Someone is going to do something unbelievably stupid for that guy this summer.

I could see it going similarly to Kadri‘s summer. He’s going to ask for 9 but clearly he isn’t worth it.

But Horvat is younger and doesn’t come with the baggage Kadri does so that could change things.

He'll get 8 years at 1C money and revert back to a 50-60 point player on year one.

Agree on the contract, but the regression to that point I don't quite know on. The NHL has continued the absurd scoring trend and I don't think it will stop. Wouldn't shock me at all if he's a 35+g-30+a guy going forward and usually falling in the 65-70 point range. Which at today's scoring, as absurd as it is to say, is low end 1C level. He could fall back lower, but being the clear 1C on a team that pays up is likely to help his numbers from where they are in Vancouver.

Horvat is such a weird player, I don't quite get how he just keeps piling up goals. It's like Jamie McGinn cranked up to 111, EVERYTHING he even tosses at the net is going in.

I sure wouldn't bet on that. Scoring was high last year too and he finished with 52 pts.

JT MIller went on a similar run with the Canucks during his contract year last season. Canucks can't catch a break.

I mean miller was still a PPG most of his time in Vancouver tbf. Obviously last year was still a bit of an anomaly though.

He did that in 70 games too as a guy not getting all the top opportunities. He has 61 a few years ago in a lower scoring time. I'm not saying it will happen, just it wouldn't shock me. Teams paying him as a mid tier or better 1C are not going to get proper value out of him

The thing about Horvat is he's been trending upwards the last 4 years despite never getting top 6 wingers, he had LE, Pearson, Beartchi, etc up until the last half of last year and since then nobody has scored more league wide.

Another ripple this season with skilled. Wingers is he's getting a lot more assists. As for his shooting % he's like a centre in Basketball, 95% of his goals are within 3 feet of the net. Combine all that plus specific training with Adam Oates in the summer and it's very likely he's just reached his ceiling it's been a year almost.

As for his future, we won't get fair value just like with JT and I honestly think they meet the rumored 8.5 ×8 he's asking considering it's only 500k off the last known offer.

Management is literally doing the exact same thing as with JT, they have an extremely high price and it's not futures based and if it's not met they will re-sign him and just like with JT the media will be dead wrong again.

The nucks can create cap in several ways to make him and Kuzmenko fit and after next season the team will have even more flexibility.

0outsiders claimed Gabe was gonna leave the Avs or Forsburg in Nashville etc but clickbait and drama sells and a place like HF thrives on it.

The rumored ask for him is a young top pairing D, a young C and a 1st, which is insane, people who think they will move him for a 1st and a B prospect especially if we're in the playoff mix clearly doesn't grasp what our owner (who has actually inserted himself in this) or Management intend to do.

Our fanbase hired planes to fly banners voicing their displeasure with Benning, if we lost Horvat while in the mix, for a 1st in the bottom 10 and a prospect, our fans would lose their shit.

Cheers.

Why are we even discussing Horvat? We are looking for a 2C, not a 1C. We shouldn't overspend and we don't even have the assets to overspend.
First… because there are no real 2Cs on the market. Maybe Hayes, but that’s about it. After Horvat, the only other top 6 guys are likely sticking with their current team through the season.

Second… if Horvat could propel the Avs to another Cup win, who really cares about the assets?

I guess it's fun to dream, but I just don't see it if we take into account our very limited assets (and cap space) and Avs MO.

Avs have shown they are willing to adapt when needs arise.

Assets, I agree it is pretty unlikely Avs get a combo that works unless they are willing to move Byram. Which I doubt (and Vancouver might not want to take that risk either).

Cap space… with enough motivation anything can work. It would likely mean a cap sacrifice would have to happen. But that’s a next year problem too. Horvat this year would give the Avs an excellent chance at coming out of the West and the Cup.

I just don't see the Avs doing a blockbuster. Time will tell.

We need to just accept that it's probably going to be Toews and move on. Horvat played himself out of any chance Colorado might have had.
I agree wit this. Too expensive. Someone who wants him long-term will pay way more than we would for a rental. It doesn't make sense for us to pay that much.

Any chance of Avs signing Horvat is gone imo. The guy is on pace for 63 goals and 94 points. It is the Kadri situation again.
Heck, Toews could be enough.. Chicago won it all with Handzus 2013.

Most important for us:
How healthy are our key players for the playoffs?

If everyone is in good shape, I think we have a good chance to repeat, if not, early exit wouldn't surprise me.
