No thanks on ROR. I would be OK with Toews or Hayes.
Has Domi been playing C with CHI? If he has I wouldn't be against it. He is a band-aid solution unfortunately but considering our cap issues this TDL and next season if the cap only goes up 1M the Avs can't be chooser too much.
Yeah Domi has been Kane's center most of the season.

What about Roslovic? A lot of talent there but very inconsistent. I think Bednar could get the most out of him. He has the skating to keep up with our team. Could he be a good option at 2C? He has one more year at 4M.

Nah, he's Tyler Arnason 2.0. Shows up when he feels like it, which isn't often.

I remember when Domi got traded last year and people were throwing a fit because he was so cheap and immediately started producing. Then he quickly went back to being Domi and everyone was like, oh yeah that's why he cost next to nothing and is going to be on yet another team going forward. Absolutely not. No thank you.

Horvat would be great. O'Reilly would be fine as a rental. Then there's probably a group of others I'd look at before getting to someone like Domi.

Like Domi he's a deeply flawed player. These are players that can potentially work if everything falls perfectly... but IMO, the Avs need to be putting their best cards on the table to win a 2nd Cup this year. Domi, Monahan, and Roslovic are not the best cards type of guys. More like betting the farm on a pair of 2s.

Horvat is your best foot forward sort of deal. He's just going to be very expensive.

Certainly don't want Arnason 2.0. He is my most hated Avs player of all time. With that siad we have a different coach now and as I said I believe he could get more consistency out of Roslovic than any other coach in the NHL. Maybe I'm being too optimistic though.

The only coach to get any sort of consistency out of Roslovic has been Torts... and he had to tough love him multiple times. Bednar is the polar opposite of Torts.

Trade for Horvat and sign him to an 8x8 extension.

Cap will be extremely tight next year and the depth would be bare bones, but it can work.
I don't see $8m per getting it done personally. Barzal got 9.1... Hintz got 8.5... I think we are talking 9 or very close to it to keep him from going to market. On the UFA market he's getting 9.5+. WAY too much for who he is and his limitations as a player, but the market is thin for young 1Cs... even if they are just fringe.

Sounds like he already declined that contract in Vancouver. Friedman said today it was an 8 year deal at just a shade under 8M AAV.

Friedman also went on to specifically talk about how perfect of a fit he is in Colorado but they can’t do anything until just before the deadline for cap reasons.

He'll change his mind when he gets a taste of winning with us!

A lack of NTC for both Horvat and O'Reilly doesn't help matters. No guarantee they'd want to go to the Avs and Giroux (thankfully) certainly didn't but it could've eliminated some of the competition.

For Horvat... I just have a hard time seeing the Avs end up on top of the bidding. Teams will value the 1st as very late, Newhook doesn't have amazing value, and the prospects are pretty meh. Which leaves the elephant in the room as Byram. I don't see the Avs giving up Byram... I also don't see Newhook + 1st + OO/Behrens/Foudy/etc winning the bidding.

Mackinnon and Makar for Aman and Hoglander.

Add an extra first and it looks fine.

This year needs to be all-in. We’ve already seen how tenuous/mediocre our depth is..and that’s without Mac making 12 mill a year. Bo puts us back in the top 2-3 contenders for sure.

Compare that to what Boston, Minny, and LA can offer. Yzerman may wiggle his way into the discussions as well. I'm not sure the Avs can get Horvat without Byram as a part of the deal.

Newhook and 2 first is a pretty big package. Add OO in there and you have roughly the equivalent for 4 first (albeit, likely 4 late first).

Technically, you’re right. The other teams could beat it. But I don’t see a team going that far, outside of maybe Boston, in terms of that much value.

Yeah, but if Byram is gonna continue being out for long stretches, wouldn't we rather have Horvat? I love Byram, and I want him to have success here, but at what point do you start to question his durability going forward?

We're trying to win cups now, and I think Landy - Horvat - Nuke would be beastly.

You don't make that trade unless he's extended beforehand
