Miller is 3 years younger and you'd get him for this years run. Big enough difference IMO but I don't think the Avs would do it.

I honestly think Sakic has targets that nobody see's coming and is going to disappoint alot of people at first. I think he's going to go the Bura/Toews route of finding a 2C rather than what he did with Barrie/Kadri.

I can see this as well. Somebody mentioned Barrett Hayton in the last thread, he makes a lot of sense. I've mentioned Mittelstadt before as well.

Somebody with a little bit of term, a lot of questions around whether they can be a 2C... Likely fairly cheap to acquire relative to a Horvat/Miller and perhaps even cheaper then a Toews.

It's too bad Mart Necas decided to breakout this year an couldn't wait another 6 months or so, just long enough for the Canes to move on.

Yeah I remember people discussing Necas in the offseason. I haven't seen many Canes games is he playing C? I know there was a debate if he was more of a wing than a C.

I think there's a great chance the player we get will be someone that people debate on if he's a winger or a C. Someone cost controlled. Either a young player with some upside or a guy the Avs think will play better in our system. Schmaltz is probably more realistic than Horvat at this point. If the Islanders aren't in the playoff picture at the deadline maybe someone like JGP who's more of a 3C but the Avs believe can be a 2C here. I think Pinto could have be an interesting name but now that he's breaking out/Norris hurt not likely.

Miller will be exactly 1.5 year younger than Kadri at the beginning of their respective contracts. Considering that Kadri signed 7 years and Miller signed 8 years, age is basically a non-factor.

Exactly. I would rather have Kadri at 6.1mil for 8 years.. I think Avalanche management agrees on that.

Soo, I doubt Avalanche has interest in Miller.

It's time to start looking at other teams "older prospects"..

Necas is playing wing.

To me, Avs may not be willing or were not willing (things can change) to go over 6-7-8 years for an older center… but I’m not sure that should really matter. Whatever give the best chances over the next 2-3 seasons should take precedent, then 4-5 after that… then who cares

But we’d have to trade assets for him. We could’ve signed Kadri for nothing but cap space. It would just be so ass backwards to trade a bunch of stuff for Miller.

Not even Thanksgiving and y’all are turning on each other 😂
Par for the course here. This is fantasy land posts anyways and pretty much everyone in here guesses wrong on what moves the FO is going to make. So why not tell everyone you have brilliant hockey insight and if they don't agree with you start a hockey goon fight over it?

Funny enough though… some moves have been incredibly predictable and predicted here. Lehky, ERod, and Manson as recent examples.

Yeah you're right, nobody on this board gets anything right ever.

They'll sign a UFA(Stastny or Rodrigues most likely) for somewhere around $2M.

4 weeks before they signed him.

And this over 2 months before they signed him.

A couple posters called Lehkonen and Manson in the days/weeks leading up to free agency as well.
