Well if he can't make the roster in our current situation he's really no use at all for the NHL side

That's fine. His NHL window was pretty much closed. He was a serviceable NHL fill-in for a while there though. It was frustrating as hell watching him find new and exciting ways to not score though. He was Jeff Shantz 2.0 as far as I'm concerned.

BTW would not be surprised at all if Megna is back in the Avs system a little later. All they gotta do is reclaim him once he's waived again and they can send him straight down to Loveland.

It’s funny, I’ve been around here less than ever over the last 6-7 months which coincides with the start of our playoff cup run. Now things are going belly up and I can’t get off HF Boards. Turns out you guys are my support when things turn bad lol.

Meghan says it's "no small loss"

Avs might be forced to make a move for a C.

Great our best center
It’s -34 here.
-26 over here brother I feel ya. I work a decent amount outside too. -33 is the low today.

Ya know if we can hold the fort and add some depth guys like toninato, hunt, maybe even svechnikov this may not end up being all bad

Claim Toni
Call up Meyers.
We’re then just days away from:

Nuke Newhook Rantanen
Cogliano Compher O’Connor
Lehkonen Meyers Kaut
Helm Toninato Hunt

Is it bad that I’m actually proud of that lineup based on how things look today.
I was gonna say this is what we have to look forward to…. Lol

Carter had term remaining and at his age added risk to the deal. Toews does not have that attached.

Copp was not traded for a prospect and 2nds. It was a 1st + 2nd + 5th + prospect for Copp + 6th. He actually increases the normal mold of the deal.

Trocheck was a bargain deal born from cost cutting (one I wanted the Avs in on at the time), but at the time Haula was thought of highly and there were 3 prospects that were well liked around hockey.
Copp deal ended up being a 1st because the Rangers went so far. Initially it was two 2nds.

Sure Toews doesn't have the term but that alone should not be cause for a 1st round pick being returned for him.

Trocheck might be a bargain deal, sure, but the deal happened regardless.

I don't believe Jonathan Toews returns a 1st round pick this TDL based on his last season and a bit of play.

It was a conditional pick with a reasonable chance (I could see the Avs adding a condition like that)… and it ended up a first. It was also 2nds and Barron if you want to exclude the whole conditional. Barron is equal to any prospect in the Avs pool and 2nds is just a step down from a 1st by most guidance out there by picks. Plus Avs don’t have 2nds to give up.

Trocheck also wasn’t a rental and was a dump on cost cutting.

Rentals can cost more than guys with a year or two left on their deals. Seems counterintuitive, but not having that commitment beyond a run has value.
