If they wanted to they could scheme something like Landy coming back for February to lend a hand but having a "setback" just before the TDL, opening all the space we will ever need.

Avs reportedly tried to trade EJ at the beginning of the year, it's possible that they decided to wait at the deadline instead (much cheaper in assets).

Avs won't cheat LTIR, this is HFboards fantasy stuff. Landy or Nuke could miss the entire season but I'd say it's unlikely right now.

Horvat is such a weird player, I don't quite get how he just keeps piling up goals. It's like Jamie McGinn cranked up to 111, EVERYTHING he even tosses at the net is going in.

kind of like Kreider from NYR. has a high of 28 goals and then goes off for 52 then looks like he is back to the 28 goal guy again.

Yeah Behrens is on the reserve list so he could play. I think he could play a role in the NHL tomorrow, but I wouldn't want him as my 4/5 for the playoffs... and odds are with the injuries, at some point he'd have to be top 4. Keep G for the playoffs unless he nets a young center.

Sorry for being out of the usual chorus, but I still think that Boone Jenner and his fantastic contract would be the ideal target for us. Gritty 2C from a know source (hello Columbus!) that we can possibly have for a package of Girard+ is pretty much ideal and keep us in contention for the next 3 years!

Columbus doesn’t typically like small defensemen and are loaded on that side of the puck prospect wise. But Jenner wouldn’t be the worst acquisition. Not sure he’s a good 2C but can pass there… the contract is a very nice bonus.

Columbus is not going anywhere with the current lineup, even after getting Gaudreau. It will be difficult for them to say no to a Girard+Newhook+conditional first (Avs playing on the SC Final). Jenner will solve so many issues financially and positionally that we might even add OO if that is what it takes

I dont think it would be difficult for them to say no at all... They need an elite upside 1C which Newhook certainly isn't. And they have a really strong group of young Dmen joining the NHL very soon to go along with Werenski as the #1LD already. In the last 2 years they've drafted 3 Dmen in the first round and took Svozil in the 3rd round who looks like a steal. Girard wouldn't interest them with the young D they have on the way.

They've got two elite wingers, and some quality middle 6/bottom 6 players. They need a top end Center to fill that 1C spot and that's pretty much it. Maybe a goalie but I doubt they see it that way yet.

And right now they are 31st in the league. Perfect spot to knab that elite Center prospect in either Bedard or Fantilli.



They simply aren't going to trade their captain unless the Avs make them an offer that's so abusrd they couldn't say no. Like Byram + 1sts sort of deal.
