There’s Is no telling what Newhooks ceiling is right now, just a pure guess. His goal against Ottawa (danced thomson) was a wow moment in terms of skill, he has the hands for sure. He went from barely playing his last season in college due to injury to being in the pros, I think he will take a step this year.
You could say that any assumptions about any prospect's ceiling are a pure guess, but you still have to scout. To me, it is pretty clear that Newhook has some limitations in the NHL and those limitations are going to keep him from being McDavid. You can point to that goal on Thomson, and I can also say Thomson is a very bad at playing defense (he's a reacher and gets danced a lot). There was skill on that play, but ALL players who make the NHL are skilled. Even the scrubs (anybody remember Bordeleau?).

Tossing out all evaluations of a player because you don't 'know' is utter nonsense to me.

For some reason I remember that the Kings board really wanted Byfield and not Stutzle pre-draft.

They got their guy.

We'll see what's happening but not looking like the greatest decision so far.
I think Byfield will end up fine, but Stutzle will be a star.. the Kings won't be the only team to regret the decision to pass on Stutzle either.

I would’ve personally taken Stutzle over Byfield, but I can understand the fascination with Byfield. If you can develop a guy with his physical skills and gifts into a franchise level player than you really have something there. But there was certainly more risk with him than Stutzle to me.

Yeah I get it… I just thought Stutzle was the next MacK. Incredible player

Eichel was already locked up for 5 more years, had a major injury looming and had requested a trade. Not to mention MacK is a proven playoff performer and is consider a top 5 center. Probably as close of a recent comparison as possible, but still not perfect.
Ahh I forgot he was already locked up. Good call

Couldn’t agree more, Timmy stu is ridiculously good. If the cap goes up as some are projecting that 8.35 will be close to what the draisaitl contract is now.

I've heard from a source that MacK is signing with Pittsburgh when his contract is up to play with Sid

Maybe if Evander Kane gets into the locker room arguments then maybe the Oilers will deal him to us for cheap mid season in order to help us win another cup. He is a Kadri replacement goal scorer that the Avs need.

If we can teach Kadri to behave then we can also teach Kane to behave.

Sam Benn is such a wild card being a borderline 3c his whole career. Then all of a sudden putting up crazy numbers and shooting percentage playing for half a season while glued to Huberdeau's hip. That risk/ reward just isn't there to give up Girard who would be on the top pairing for the next 5 years for Florida while only making 5m per season

Pizza talk is peak season (not peak offseason). We should propose trading Girard again, that would fit the times
