$6mx6 or 5.5m x7 is the sweetspot.

Seems like a good deal.

Acquire Faksa and a pick from Dallas, then trade JTC for a pick. Essentially JTC for Faksa and two picks. #Profit

(Not sure I believe Nill would pay to move Faksa though)
A Faksa/JTC swap would be great. Lose some offense, but get a 3C for 3 seasons at a cheaper rate. If Myers really gets going, Faksa isn't paid too much to be just a heavy usage defensive 4C.

What the f*** does this even mean? Any and all picks/prospects spent to win a Cup are worth it, full stop. The Avs just achieved what many teams haven't in decades and some have never and will never because they didn't have that ridiculous asset preservation mentality. And thank God for that. "Maybe" worth it...gimme a break.

I should not have said "maybe", it was worth it to hoist the cup, but don't think for a minute that the board won't be in an uproar over down years. I don't want a repeat of the 40 point season, full stop.

Every team goes through the down years after success. It happens literally every time a good core ages out; Chicago, Detroit, LA, etc. While you're in your compete window you do whatever it takes to win and as long as the Avs' best players are in their primes that's what they need to continue to do. Asset accumulation comes with the rebuild that we luckily won't have to worry about for many years to come.

Also the 48 point season was an aberration, so I'm not sure why you're even bringing it up here.

If the Flames pay Gaudreau $10m+ and ship out Tkachuk, they could really bomb out next year. Though there aren't too many great teams in the Pacific to take their place.

When Bucci says something like that he means it. He’s very well connected with the Bruins so on one hand this could mean they’re involved but he’s also very connected with the Tkachuk family so it could be coming from there.

I would love for Ottawa to step up and bull something off here. 7th OA is a nice start and they have a lot of prospects. With Gaudreau likely moving on I think any Tkachuk trade should bring back solely futures if I’m Calgary. They played above their talent level last year and are about to get a lot worse.

If Tkachuk and Gaudreau are leaving then the Flames should start a rebuild immediately and jump on the Sens' 7OA pick + one of their good prospect.

Hard to believe that the Sens wouldn't want to reunite the Tkachuks and they have a lot of assets to make that trade possible.

If Calgary blows it up, I'd throw every last future we have at Lindholm.

If the Flames end up losing Tkachuk and Gaudreau, I hope to hell the Avs jump in and try to sneakily get Lindholm out of there. He'd be a near perfect 2C behind MacK

Since Dorian seems determined to fall off the turnip truck again, I hope Sakic is doing his due diligence for another potential theft.

Some noise on the main board about Dallas wanting to move Faksa for capspace, and some people even suggesting that Nill would add a pick to move him.

@henchman Are you still bullish on Faksa, or is that too big of a contract/risk at this point?

I know you didn't ask me but I think Faksa is burnt toast. He's so slow and isn't what he once was defensively.

Even if Dallas ate half his contract ($3.25x3) I'm not sure I'd want him. Just my $0.02.

I would imagine Dallas adds a bit no? JTC’s contract expiring is somewhat a planned cap drop for the next season and adding $3 odd mil could put a bind on some other contracts moving forward.

I doubt it... if there was an add to either side, it just isn't much... like a C prospect or 6th round pick.
