Time to sign Nuke and then on the draft floor you trade the rights of the UFA's you won't re-up. We need as many assets as possible, even late picks.

There is nothing impressive about that core, middle of the pack at best
If they got Chycrun, it'd Werenski, Chyc, Elvis, Laine, Sillinger with Johnson on the way. And then Chinakov, Ceulemans, Marchenko who all look pretty promising as well. They have a pretty good base as it is, if Johnson hits the team will have a pretty dang nice boost here coming up as 1C is the biggest missing piece there. Don't think they'll be a dynasty level or anything but that'd be a very good core.

The idea is to make cap room for others

They might as well just trade St Louis Game 6 warrior JT Compher. Girard has to bring back a good forward. Any trade involving picks/prospects would make us all upset.

Girard is criminally underrated by lots of non-Avs fans. I'm pretty sure his zone exit/entry stats are really, really good.

He's an objectively good player who should return something quality in kind, or we keep him IMO.

No one underrates and disrespects Girard more than Avs fans though. They should keep him unless the offer is just too good to say no.

Seeing a lot of posts with Meyers as a 4th liner.

Personally, I think he’s going to be a 3rd liner. Hype seems to be down on him significantly, but this was a highly coveted player and someone that has been touted as one of the top college FA’s in recent years.
I think hes going to be a third liner. Limited viewing but I love his game.

What happens if Bo goes down again? You are looking at a second pairing of Ej and ho lol. Shit gets thin fast. Keep G unless theres an offer you simply cannot refuse.

Don’t like the idea of trading Girard to dump cap, unless the assets gained are apart of a larger plan.

EJ is clearly the guy you move to dump cap, even if you have to retain 50% to push a deal across.

They can do both though...

If they lose the 2nd line and can’t find suitable replacements in FA, they’ll need to trade G for a center with term. I’d rather not do that. But I can’t think of any scenario where Girard has to be a cap dump. His value is good.

My concern with Girard is his value without being on the PP/less TOI and how he reacts to all that in terms of his confidence. It's no secret GM's love d-men with size/physicality .. and if Girard's point totals take a hit and he's making 5 mill a year not sure that's a luxury you can afford in our situation. I think it's possible he has alot more value than he will next offseason .. especially if Byram continues to break out and GM's know the cap crunch is coming.

It just makes so much sense to cash in on his value right now. We just won the cup without him. I get with Byram's injury issues Girard would be great insurance .. not sure you want a 5 mill dollar 3rd pairing d-men as insurance when your trying to go back to back.
