I don't want to bash Darcy because he just helped the team win a Cup, but the idea his eye injury was the only reason he played poorly just isn't true.

That may or may not have played a part in the playoffs, but he struggled literally all year with soft goals.

Even during his best stretch around the new year that everyone always points to, he was still giving up the occasional soft goal, especially on long distance shots. His numbers were great because the team was playing great, but it wasn't like some of those stretches that Varly had where he was standing on his head every night. He didn't have to.

I still think he goes but if the Avs do sign Kadri I think they bite the bullet and do a contract similar to Gaborik with LA where the term was huge to make the cap hit lower.

The above has not been Sakic’s MO but it’s something that could work. Gaborik with the Kings also looked impossible to fit in prior to the signing.

If he leaves Colorado I think Pittsburgh is where he ends up.

I can truly only remember three games where Darcy "stood on his head" this year:

2 road games vs Vegas
1 road game vs Edmonton

Even then in the two Vegas games the Avs played well after the initial 1st period flurry.

Oh look at that hipster mustache! Forsberg is going to sign with the Avalanche if they pay him in microbrews.

If he wants 3M sure lol.

I keep coming back to that number. It's even higher than what the Avs paid Kuemper this season. If you're getting one of these average goalies it's got to be on the cheap cheap to ice the best team possible.

It's probably gonna take ~$4.5M or so even for Husso as a FA. Very limited supply out there for goalies.

It is tough this offseason. We can go big term and then try to go for it every year but really hurt us later. Or we do the prudent decisions because Makar and byram are like 23 and 21!!!

If the Avs don't feel comfortable with Fleury, I could see them going after Holtby who surprisingly has really good playoff numbers

Sakic has the long view in mind. I kinda think he goes after a stop gap goalie to fill the next 2-3 years as it seems he believes in annunen

I think the Pens and Knights would gladly take those moves back if they could. MAF came off the best save % of is career in 20/21 and didnt do too bad with a lousy Hawk team this past year. With the Av's defense I think MAF would look like a superstar again and be a 2 year upgrade for sure.
I mean in the actual playoffs, Fleury started as the starter, but lost the job at some point in the playoffs due to poor play.

Penguins got two Cups out of switching to Murray in the middle of the playoffs, so, you know, I think they are pretty fine with the decision they made each time.

So Seravalli said last week that he thought the Avs would keep Kadri.

Now he says that Kadri is basically a Ranger and he'd bet his house on it.

If true Sakic needs to trade them the rights and get something back.

This. Those rights need to be weaponized.
