Armia blows literally. He brings nothing except his PKIf they re-sign Armia, Montreal will have best 4th line in NHL.
The montreal fans are smart . What he did will elevate him and he will see it game in game outRealt proud for our guy. I wisj the crowd ill share some love on the next game. I realy like Evans and this deal is fair.
Yeah cause Evans signed for less than Hughes offered.Everyone giving Hughes props here. And I'm sure he deserves a bit.
But let's be real.
Jake Evans WANTED to stay. Jake Evans WANTED to be a Monreal Canadien.
This was all Jake Evans.
Thank you, Jake.
Laine has to get healthy in shape and learn how to skate again before we consider an extension. And I hope Laine can understand this and build on this. He can become a legend for this team, with Demidov coming, Slaf getting better, Suzuki and Cauf entering their prime.
I completely disagree I think Armia had value from the moment he got here. When he came to montreal, we couldn't win a board battle. He did hit that slump but he was good for the majority of his time in montreal, and some of that time he's been more than good. It all depends on the contract but I'm fine with a fourth line duo of Evans-Armia on good contracts. Not sold on Armia, he only showed something after getting waived twice last season. And of course, now that he’s in a contract year, he shows up to try and nab another long term deal.
We’ve seen what he does after he gets his contract extensions. I hope he gets traded for whatever. If you’re a bottom line player and you have a questionable or inconsistent work ethic, you do not deserve a long term deal.
lol, Armia is gonzos, along with Dvo. Re-sign Pez if they can't find something better. If they re-sign Armia, Montreal will have best 4th line in NHL.
If he can do that, then he'll be glad to wait and make more money. I expect Hughes might try to get ahead of it and surprise us with a good contractLaine has to get healthy in shape and learn how to skate again before we consider an extension
nuh-uh. Sorry I love Pezz, he's a soldier, but the team has to outgrow him. He'll find a job somewhere but we have too many forwards next season to begin withlol, Armia is gonzos, along with Dvo. Re-sign Pez if they can't find something better.
I wouldn’t want to see an extension to him if he’s still skating as slow as he is now, next season. If this is his best, then you can’t commit major AAV to him. We’ll find out at next season’s camp.Laine has to get healthy in shape and learn how to skate again before we consider an extension.
Agree to disagree. Armia was putrid when he got here, only showed up in the Covid playoffs and prior to that and mostly after it, was a complete disappearing act. Evans is the key guy in that duo — pair Evans with someone who has a consistent work ethic, and you’ll get an even better 4th line.I completely disagree I think Armia had value from the moment he got here. WIll do.Agree to disagree. Armia was putrid when he got here, only showed up in the Covid playoffs and prior to that and mostly after it, was a complete disappearing act. If Armia was that worthy of an extension, he wouldn’t have gotten waived twice last season — nobody even wanted him. Biggest mistake would be to make him comfortable again with a long term deal.
Those other guys you mentioned are trade baitHabs already have 8 wingers for next season, and it doesn't include guys like Roy, Beck/Kapanen, Davidson, Farrell, etc. Who could possibly make the team out of camp if there is a spot available
I'm sorry that you're scratching your head because you're so confused over your own ridiculous statements.Yeah cause Evans signed for less than Hughes offered.
The credit goes to Hughes for making an offer and standing his ground.
I agree that we don't want to resign him to a long term deal (just because he is on the wrong side of 30) but Armia was pretty good for us even before the covid playoff, never really got where all this hate for Armia comes from... He just never live up to the expectation because sometime he can be a world class player and that what people expect to see every time when he just a reliable player bottom 6 player, PKer that doesn't just play on the PK he kills penalty and he might not be overly physical but he one of the strongest player on the puck and along the board... The only reason Armia got waive is because no one would pick him up vs. a Yolonen or who ever it was on a cheap deal that we didn't want to lose since most teams had cap issues and the team that had space were trying to keep it / trying to tank or they had internal budget... I don't see how him being waiver mean that he can't be resign now since he was one of our best player when he came back to the NHL + he is even more consitentAgree to disagree. How you can suggest that aria doesn't have a consistent work ethic is beyond me. He has been a metronome in that regard this season.Agree to disagree. Thought of that but he’d be more likely to seek a long term deal so at this point, a trade would make more sense. Evans was the critical signing and now that it’s been secured, there is no point overly chasing bottom line players — cap increases are best used on elite level players.Maybe the solution is to always have him on a 1 year deal to keep him honest.
Um. No. I highly doubt that. This team is going nowhere fast , you people just dont see it. 6 years from now same record or worse.
The entire roster including Pezz have been positive throughout rain or shine. We've had two lengthy down periods this season where the only bitching and moaning was found here...And since it’s an Evans thread, nice to see a homegrown talent extended. I can’t remember one time where Evans said or did anything out of line. He’s an asset both on and off the ice. Plus, as a centre, he fills a critical need and is a great example for incoming prospects.
