About G, I do believe he is the most expendable asset we have and would love to move him for a 2C sometime down the road. I don’t think anything happens soon, though, because of his injury and the questions surrounding Bo’s health.

McDonagh will be a big loss for Tampa.

I will say though, Sergachev really impressed me in the final. I think his defensive game has grown tremendously. Perhaps he takes on an even larger role for them next season.
TBL fans were pretty upset with Sergachev after JTC put a SOG on Vasilevsky and the rebound went to Nuke who passed to Burakovsky for the GWG in OT IIRC. They blamed him for that turnover. My sense was they kinda viewed him like Graves. Needs more hockey IQ but I thought he was okay. McDonough had trouble handling the Avs speed IIRC.

Sergachev is a great skater and thrives in up tempo games... Tbh I don't think he's a great fit for Cooper and what he wants from his Dmen.

I actually think Sergachev on the Avs would break out in a big way. Plays a lot like Byram when he's allowed to play his game.

He played a lot tougher defensively than I remember from previous viewings.

Maybe my expectations are in a different place than theirs, but I thought he was good overall.

This board would be constantly upset with Sergachev if he were an Avs player. Dude has good tools but a pretty low IQ.
That’s the difference though. A guy with good skills but low hockey IQ like Graves hurt the Avs because he tried to play beyond his role. I was terrified of JJ’s hockey IQ and having to play him, especially against the TBL after Girard went down but kudos to him for being an unsung hero and playing within his role. It was a significant contribution. Excellent job by JB.

Servalli says Kadri is high on NYR’s FA list. He also speculates he is such a hot commodity that he could make $8M+/7 years.

Also says Avs can’t pay Lehkonen more than $4M and could be a offersheet target. Which is just blatantly false. We can pay Lehky.

Gonna be interesting to see how many of these FA losers who would normally snub us want to come crawling to the Mighty Colorado River Team for less than market value now that we finally got a cup
Not just that but playing with Makar (sort of like why Barrie chose to stay with Edmonton because of Mcdavid )and pad their stats

I knew Kadri and the Rangers were a match made in heaven, but those numbers are mindboggling. 8 million+ x 7 years is money he can't pass up on.

The Rangers would be a great fit for Kadri. Lots of talent around him and gets to play on a big stage. I actually wouldn’t mind seeing him play for them as opposed to wasting away on Seattle.

Colorado won’t go anything close to $8M imo. If someone goes to that level, I don’t think they come close to matching. I’m guessing Colorado is hoping to bring him back for something in the 6’s.

I could see PIT being interested in Kadri with Burke in the mix and Malkin maybe leaving.

I thought about that too. He'd be an ideal target since he won't cost that many assets if the Avs don't match and he could definitely help a playoff team.

For example, a 4.2M offer would cost only a 3rd round pick in compensation if the Avs don't match. Very tempting.

edit: would cost a 2nd, not a 3rd.

I think we match anything under 4.5M.

I think Kadri will be gone and it will probably be looked back on as a good thing in a couple of years, Schiefele is the player I think that Sakic is going to heavily target this summer.

I would really like Puljujarvi but I think assets will be spent on a Center instead.

I think Avs would match up to $6M for the guy. They paid a 2nd and Barron to get him.

Where are you seeing this? A 4.2 million offer should be a 1st and 3rd rounder as compensation if anything under 5 years and more if longer.

Edit: looked it up and in 2022 an offer of 4.2 is the cutoff between a 2nd and a 1st + 3rd. Don’t think the Avs need to worry about an offersheet here.
