I just wonder who will be this year's Christian Dvorak. There was a lot of love for Dvorak as a potential needle-moving middle six center last off season, but strangely I haven't heard similar since.

No. You don't win in the playoffs with guys like RNH. Too weak, loses his battles to similarly sized players and don't even bother asking him to play against bigger centres.
Put Nuke and lehks on his line then.

So, according to a good portion of this board, RNH is basically "Girard but center"?

So someone brought this up a few days ago. I love the idea of the Avs investing in guys with good underlying numbers but that have either been in bad systems or not had their confidence to play well. Guys like Nuke and Toews.

Someone brought up Puljujarvi. I think he'd be a fantastic addition to the team. He has fantastic underlying analytics but has been very up and down on an Edmonton team that fails to get anything going outside of McDrai.

What would it take to bring him to Colorado?

I know JFresh models aren't the end all be all of analytics, but these do show he has some fairly good upside.

Hearing that Darcy had to go to an optometrist daily to get his eye "retrained" makes me more open to having him back.
Kuemper had a 30-game stretch in the regular season where he was second only to Shesterkin in goals saved above expected, which is pretty great. He was stealing points for us in a handful of games in the mushy middle of the regular season.

Granted, he also started very slow and didn't have a great playoffs.

Do we really think Campbell or Husso are better options than him?

I have to say if RNH didn't have a NMC, he'd be a good trade for Girard.
As desperate as the Oilers are for depth D, they are just as desperate for depth on scoring even with McDrai doing insane stuff. They are not going trade away RNH. Besides, they have Barrie who is similar enough as Girard is.

I think G has to go because:

- We already proved we can win without him
- He isn't the same G we got when we acquired him. The injuries clearly have made him less dynamic.
- It's the Bo show now.
- That 5M is needed elsewhere

My preference would be to move him in a package for a goalie. If we managed to really shore up the #1 Goalie slot, we might be a dynasty in the making. Hell, If we had just had average goal-tending this postseason, we might've went like 16-2.

Poolparty struggled to produce at a high level next to McDavid. I'd be hesitant at paying the price for him that teams will pay.

Kadri is going to go after money, this is his last opportunity to get term and high AAV. That'll be tough for the Avs to match to begin with... then we have Sakic who is pretty notorious on not giving term. I can see a situation where Avs match AAV (7 ish m), but only go to 4 years.

Kuemper... he did the job well enough, but similar to Kadri... this is his last chance to get paid. We've seen the going rate for starters is ~6m AAV for 5-6 years. To me, that is a very tough ask...

G... he's the best piece to grab a 2C or 1G. If Kuemper and or Kadri can't be retained, G is the piece you dangle out there to solve a core piece. You just have to get a core piece back.

Don't trade G! The key to this run was defense.
...Which was largely done without Girard. I do agree, keeping a sturdy defense is key but frankly, given the option, I'd rather move Girard and re-sign Manson if it makes sense value wise. A guy like Manson is more of a need for that D-corps than Girard at this point. We already have Makar, Byram and Toews who are great puck moving D-man. I don't think we can fully utilize Girard to max out his potential without hurting Byram, and that's just a no-no.

You can put Guy Carbonneau and Cam Neely on his line to insulate him. Doesn't mean RNH won't still lose his own battles and struggle against bigger, more physical players down the middle.

Very easy pass on RNH. Guy got outplayed by f***ing J.T. Compher the last two games of the series. You really want to move assets for RNH?
