Wow, Girard #8 on the trade board. I know we've talked about it if it makes sense for a 2C but I'm a bit surprised to see him that high.
I mean there are plenty of reasons, we've shown we don't need him to win the cup and Byram is clearly ready for 2nd pairing hell he could be 1st pairing on some teams. We're about to lose two of our top 6 forwards, it'd be wise to move him for some help up front.
I'd love to bring Varlamov back for a couple seasons. Islanders are just sitting him on the bench. He has stretches where he can be brutal but when he's locked in he's a monster. Never seen Kuemper play like locked in Varly. And if they don't sign Kadri, sign Trocheck at $6M
Nuke at $5.5M, Trocheck at $6M, Lehky at $3.5M... And they still have ~$5M to spend on a goalie.
I definitely understand moving him for the right piece if it becomes available, but I’m with you. 8 on the trade board is very high.Wow, Girard #8 on the trade board. I know we've talked about it if it makes sense for a 2C but I'm a bit surprised to see him that high.
But then we’re right back where we’ve been the last 2 off seasons in net next off season. You have to do something to sort goalie out for at least a few years.Apparently the Avs explored a Varlamov trade before re-signing Francouz. Wonder if they circle back.
A Varlamov-Frankie platoon is a good enough transitional tandem

Malkin will be a Capital now that Backstrom’s career could be in question . Maybe Giroux circles back to us ? I’d take himBergeron wants to stay in Boston, but I could see Malkin here for a year or two
I thought Malkin and Ovechkin didn't like eachother? Or was that Kovalchuk?Malkin will be a Capital now that Backstrom’s career could be in question . Maybe Giroux circles back to us ? I’d take him
Sure, but the market is looking like Kuemper, Husso and Campbell. Im not exactly thrilled with giving any of those guys term. A Varlamov-MAF stop gap gives time to re-asses.But then we’re right back where we’ve been the last 2 off seasons in net next off season. At that price I rather take Kadri back for 1M more.Interesting to see Karlsson so high on that list. Would he be worth considering, or is $5.9m X 5 years a bit too much term?
Assuming Vegas wouldn't trade directly with the Avs but maybe as a sneaky three way trade.

Not sure . Anyway malkin looks like his knees are shot so it’s doubtful he could play well in our system . William Karlsson wouldn’t be a bad plan B, plays well defensively if I recall.I thought Malkin and Ovechkin didn't like eachother? Or was that Kovalchuk?
I mean next year isn’t looking much better. You have Jarry(who probably doesn’t get to FA), Varly, Raanta, Quick, Bernier, Andersen, Broisoitt. Next years even more bleak for FA goalies then this year.Sure, but the market is looking like Kuemper, Husso and Campbell. Im not exactly thrilled with giving any of those guys term.
