Watched a fair number of Rangers games due to my dad being one. Georgiev is a terrible backup. You want him playing bigger minutes. He gets inside his own head and can get really cold. He's better when playing regularly (and a lot of Rags fans have been echoing the sentiment in the trade thread).

He's a serviceable starter. He's mostly here because he saves us $3M.

Didn't watch many Ranger games this year - while I agree with the approach to retaining as much of our F/D depth - is there some risk with Georgiev getting cold or losing focus in a game where the Avs control the puck for most of the game? Hopefully the (presumed) starter minutes negate this.

What are the odds Georgiev just signs his QO at 1x2.65M in an attempt to become the Avs next overpaid UFA goalie next summer as opposed to signing something like 2/3x3M?

I'd hazard a guess that Sakic wouldn't have made this trade without knowing if Georgiev would sign something reasonable for 2-3 years.

I watched Dach play live tonnes in Saskatoon. Dude is vastly over rated and as selfish as it gets. If you criticize MacDavid and Mathews for not playing D wait until you see Dach. At least those others are elite scorers. If Dach wasn't 6'3 no-one would know who he is.

He doesn't fit the timeline. Avs need a 2C who can compete for a cup now. Dach is far from that.

As a 3C sure. But not a 2C right now.
