I can't imagine that being the case.

He'd need to come at 50% retained and would STILL cost an arm and a leg to acquire. He's a great offensive player no doubt but when you consider the price we'd need to pay VS how much do we actually need him - the answer is obvious.. well at least to me it is.

Soooo.. Sakic is making every fan to have a heart attack once again during playoffs EVERY time the opposing team shoots at net. Entertaining.

Positives are that now there is cap available for both Kadri and Nuke. Negative is that my heart will not be able to take it 10 months from now.

With a guy like Kane he can elevate a suboptimal 2C. Maybe that opens up the availability to target someone that isn't as offensively gifted, but can play in the system and is solid defensively (i.e. a guy like Chandler Stephenson)

I feel like Sakic has got some plans. After last offseason and how pissed I was about their start I'm just gonna sit back and watch what happens and trust that team. They made my negative ass look dumb lol.

I really am curious if he can find a good 2C option like Kadri for 2-3 years while the team still has 8 and 7 as a pair.

2C is so much more important to the Avs than a goaltender, especially now that they've committed themselves to a questionable starter. Avs have fully embraced the 'we're good enough to survive less than great goaltending' going forward.

Not sure they could survive that at both goaltender and second line center.

I think Nichushkin has Avs over a barrel. Kadri has priced himself out and Sakic has to resign Nuke. Since he already has a history of contract demands I think he’ll ask 7 million AAV and not budge. If I were Sakic, I do it.

We just spent weeks speculating on UFA goalies only for Sakic to do what he always does and trade for someone young. Some RFA center that no one is thinking about will be an Avalanche soon.

It's rolling the dice. But I'd rather roll this dice than overpay for a decent goalie. There are just a few goalies in the NHL that deserve over 6m at this cap. And none of the goalies in the market are in that stratosphere.

Now, if the Leafs/Wild/Oilers sign Fleury to 3.5ish AAV and 2 years, then I would be pissed.

You shouldn't be. I'd take Georgiev from age 26 to 28 over Fleury 38 to 40 anytime.
