People will hate me for saying this but I've been wondering about him with the Avs.

Had some of the same issues Burakovsky had when he arrived (super soft), but is coming off a solid offensive season (48p in 69gp), was solid in the circle (52.3% on 879 draws), and has decent underlying defensive metrics. Bad skater though.

We'll see what happens. But a signing 25-year-old former high pick has Joe Sakic written all over it.

.

We just spent weeks speculating on UFA goalies only for Sakic to do what he always does and trade for someone young. Some RFA center that no one is thinking about will be an Avalanche soon.
So who do we think it could be?
Vilardi
PLD
Norris
Dach
Lundestrom
???

Pagnotta saying on Sirius XM that he thinks the Leafs will go after MAF for 2 years and right around $5M. His reasoning is because DK and Campbell want the same term and $, and MAF is cheaper and the better goalie out of the 3.

I think he's so slow though.

I hate you for saying that... :sarcasm:

It's rolling the dice. But I'd rather roll this dice than overpay for a decent goalie. There are just a few goalies in the NHL that deserve over 6m at this cap. And none of the goalies in the market are in that stratosphere.

Now, if the Leafs/Wild/Oilers sign Fleury to 3.5ish AAV and 2 years, then I would be pissed.
Going for Fleury would be riskier, we could be missing out on goalies again. Better this way, get it sorted ASAP.

There's our 2C. 22 goals, 26 assists last year. Highly decorated junior player. 25 years old. Played on some terrible NHL teams.

3 years, 10.5 million. This is a total Sakic move and Strome will be revitalized in Colorado.

He also just said he thinks Kadri might end up staying in Denver because they are saving on Georgiev. Also, says he thinks the # for Nuke is $5 - $5.5, and $7.5 for Naz.

Strome is so slow and lazy that the Avs will have gained the zone, turned it over and gained the zone again before he enters the zone for the first time

Lol I think that chicago did their best to try and showcase him and pad his stats but if you're trying to WIN then this is not a player that you can do that with as a #2C.

Basically, he's a Tyler Arnason-type of stopgap that a rebuilding team can put in its lineup - while living with his deficiencies - while giving their young players the proper time to develop.

I'm zero surprised Chicago didn't qualify him and I'm sure he's been offered around the league to everyone now for some time.

Dave Pagnotta saying on SiriusXM that he "doesn't know" about Kadri leaving. Says Sakic has spoken with Nichushkin's camp already and speculates in the 5.5M neighbourhood for him and 7.5M neighbourhood for Kadri while speculating "three to four" for Georgiev.

Those would be discounts. On the open market, especially this one, Kadri makes 8-9 and Nichushkin makes 6-6.5.

Oh god, please just let Kadri walk... extending him is a huge long term mistake.

Yep, but not big discounts. Basically what I'd expect them to actually be worth based on just play, not the market where the most desperate club will pay more than they should.
