In the Rangers welcome/informational package they send after drafting a European player, is there a bullet stating something like "A Euro based fan name (insert Amazing Kreidermans real name) will reach out to you on a regular basis. You are required to give him updates related to yourself and your career"?

Lol

Hahaha. Who knows. But on a serious note, I've gotten to know a lot of these guys through the years with the interviews and some casual chats afterwards.

It's going to be a packed house with 4 Fs all joining Hartford on ATOs. I really hope that the front office has a plan in place to make their experience worthwhile.
Maybe I set my sights too low, but i think
- being around the guys, the staff, the facilities,
- seeing the games and AHL players' size, skill, physicality, and
- practicing, and scrimmaging as oppo team,
will all prep them well for Dev/Prospect Camp, Rookie Camp, Rookie games, and main Camp

Same. Everything at this point is a bonus as far as all three of the recent prospects / additions are concerned even if they don’t get into a single game - which we know won’t be the case.

So all these guys coming to Hartford (Berard, Sykora, BMB, Edstrom, probably Othmann eventually) means they will all be playing there next year as well? How does that work? It would be pretty exciting to see all of our next wave of prospects playing and gaining experience on the same team together.

BMB can't play in the AHL next year and Sykora may not come over to play either.

Berard, Edstrom and Othmann are all eligible though.

BMB will be 19 and will almost certainly be back in the OHL next year. It's either the Rangers or the Greyhounds for him and I seriously doubt he'll make the Rangers.

Sykora will also be 19. He could be with the Pack I suppose but I think the chances are he'll be with a European team. Perhaps not Nitra in the Slovak league though.

Othmann will be with the Rangers or the Pack. Edstrom probably the Wolfpack. I don't see him playing another year at Rogle. Berard will be with the Wolfpack.

Korczak will move up as well, though whether he sticks with the Pack or gets sent to Jacksonville, who knows.

Khodorenko and Pajuniemi are pending RFAs. Gettinger, Lockwood, Blidh, Carpenter and Smith are all pending UFAs. It's possible that none of them are back next year.

On defense, everyone is a pending RFA except Robertson (1 year left on ELC) and Kalynuk (UFA). I assume we'll keep at least 3 of Jones, Hajek, Scanlin, Emberson and Zech.

In goal, it's going to be a little crowded unless they promote Domingue to be Shesty's backup. Domingue and Garand in the AHL and Lindbom and Boyko in the ECHL. We may end up moving someone.

Of course, we haven't signed any college UDFA's yet. I'm guessing we'll add at least 2 to the mix.

With the forwards, I don't think they'll qualify Khodorenko. I think they'll qualify Pajuniemi but I don't know if he'll want to stay here.

My hope if that they bring back Gettinger, though I wouldn't be surprised to see him look for a new organization where he might have a better chance at making the NHL. I wouldn't mind keeping Lockwood and Blidh if they'll stay, but no idea what their desires are. Carpenter is another guy who I like in an AHL/14th NHL F role, but he might also look for greener pastures. Smith is gone. I think some of this depends on what their plans are with Goodrow, Motte, and the fourth line in general.

On defense I would expect they'd keep Jones, Scanlin, and Emberson. Maybe Zech on an AHL deal? Certainly not an NHL deal for him. No idea what they do with Kalynuk. Hajek is interesting, seems as if they may have finally acknowledged he's not really part of the future, but he's not the worst 8th D you can find.

All the goalies have been mediocre at best this year. No clue what they want to do there. Personally I'd dump Lindbom, have Boyko in Jacksonville, and then sign another minor league veteran.

On Edstrom, in his quote to the Rogle team site the other day, he said (translated): "I want thank the fans for the last four years, best fans in the world." While it's hardly confirmation of his intentions it sure sounded to me like he was saying "goodbye" to Rogle in advance of coming over here.

I am hoping the Pack and the Rangers find a way to keep:\
Carpenter
Gettinger
Blidh
Lockwood

Those (4), while not true NHLers at this point in their careers, are good AHL players and good NHL depth in case of injury. I'd offer all of them 2 year, 1-way deals.

Here's the problem with your hope.

If the Rangers sign these 4 and already have Brodzinski, Fritz, Elson and Lyscheschen signed for next year, that gives them 8 veteran forwards. So where are the kids going to play? Even assuming Cuylle and Pajuniemi aren't back, the Pack will have Trivigno, Othmann, Henriksson, Korczak, Edstrom, Rempe, Berard, possibly Sikora, possibly Grubbe and/or Cicciolini assuming they are signed (Cicciolini AHL contract), and any NCAA or CMJHL or overseas free agents.

Barring a trade I can't see the Rangers signing more than 2 of these guys.

Here's my thoughts:

Brodzinski should be this teams 4th line C
Cuylle should be his LW

They have proven chemistry in the AHL and both are ready for that jump

Sykora to the AHL (hopefully)
Korczak to the ECHL
I doubt Ciccolini is signed

That leaves:
Carpenter
Leschyshyn
Gettinger
Lockwood
Blidh
Pajuniemi (although I think he leaves)
Trivigno
Berard
Henriksson
Othmann
Edstrom
Rempe

That's 12 forwards. I am sure Drury would like to have 14-15 guys as call-ups will happen. I am doubtful the team carries a 13th forward next season so that means that for every injury they will need to call someone up at that time.

On the college UFA front Malinski who was at our development camp signed with Colorado.

We don't need all the vet forwards to come back to Hartford. Brodzinski and Elson will be back and I'd earmark Leschyshym for Hartford too.....and then there is Fritz. He's been on an AHL deal the last couple years but he's given Hartford good production even if he's more of a set up guy. Not sure if he's coming back but it wouldn't surprise me. Maybe a couple more vet forwards would probably be enough. I would think Carpenter would rather find a lesser NHL team where he might stick it out all of next year so I'm thinking he's probably gone.

Jones, Scanlin, Emberson should all be back and Robertson's signed. We'll need a vet AHL D---maybe we'll go dumpster diving again like we did with Harpur. Get someone who can go back and forth AHL/NHL if needed. More or less a 6/7 guy. If Jones or Robertson aren't ready to hold down a bottom pairing NHL position they're better off playing regularly in the AHL. As far as Hajek we'd be doing him a favor I think moving him on. I don't think he's ever going to nail down a spot on the Rangers. He needs a change of scenery.

I wonder if they keep Clendening around

That’s why you are not a GM. Carpenter may get a one way deal at NHL minimum. Lockwood and Bligh likely get a one year two way with an enhanced minor league salary. Gettinger, I don’t know.

I find it laughable that the leagues most valuable franchise pinches pennies on guys. Hartford has been a dumpster fire for years and the Rangers have the financial muscle to fix it but they prefer to give 2-way deals/ I just don't see the point. Why not make it a priority and pay the collective extra $1m total to give Hartford a better chance to win?

That I don’t disagree with but you don’t want too many two year deals. Go find a couple minor league career studs and give them good minor league contracts.

It's games like today that convince me that were not winning the Stanley Cup. Our guys don't want to win it. They get by on skill but don't put in the work necessary to win tough battles. The other team has to be toothless for us to look like a contender, the moment a team resists or even skates fast that is it for us. And people rarely come up clutch in those situations. This was a playoff preview. This is a game we had to win. We were supposed to win this and catch them, and overtake them. And send a psychological warming. Instead were the ones warned that we can't skate with them. They are not even that talented but they are hungry and we have a bunch of millionaires that are just happy to live like millionaires in Manhattan and happen to play hockey. I don't see them on a mission to bring a championship to this lousy starved franchise. It's f***ing pathetic. A team that plays in a shithole in Newark who celebrates titles in parking lots has more fight than we do. I am disgusted.
