I have a really good feeling about BMB being a player for the Rangers in a few years. I could see him being the next Stepan in that he wasn't a first rounder but he could be a key player.
I know he's younger but is it fair to say BMB has surpassed Grubbe/Korczak?
Pretty impressive progress BMB has made this year.

I think Grubbe has always projected as a good 4th line center.
I'm sure if Grubbe makes the NHL in any type of capacity, NYR will be pleased. But I don't think NYR management/staff were hoping to take a prospect with the 1st pick in the 3rd round hoping for a 4th line center.

in fans eye, seems so.
In our poll, he did.

i don't think the actual NHL teams stack rank guys while at comparable lower/amateur levels
they look for them to continue playing at most competitive available levels, and continue to improve/compete/contribute

I definitely think he's a better prospect than Korczak, though I've been down on Korczak since last year. He's really good at both ends and I think he just processes things at a higher level than Korczak. He also has a much better frame that would allow him to succeed in a bottom six capacity even if the offense doesn't translate.

I think he has greater upside than Grubbe, although I also like Grubbe's floor. Grubbe can be a really good 4C or maybe even 3C if everything goes perfectly. BMB has middle-six potential for sure.

The Rangers haven't successfully drafted and developed a forward in the Canadian juniors that reached their potential here since Dubinsky and Callahan. Weise and Anthony Duclair are the only other success stories.

No, you hope for better, but the realistic expectation has been bottom six, and most from the beginning have been saying likely a 4C. You also don’t expect to get a 1C in the 3rd round, you take a shot at higher upside with a floor in mind.

His hot streak goes back longer than that--11 points in his last 16 games. Considering he had 8 in his first 25, it's pretty damn good.
11 points in 16 is the same pace that Rydahl had in his more successful seasons in the SHL points wise - just to give folks some context with someone recently in the organization. I think Rydahl didn’t get himself a good shot to earn NHL spot due to injuries (obviously still far from given that he’d earn a spot even if healthy) Edstrom is still a pretty young 22 yo who still got room to develop and as was said his game could be more appropriate for NA style. If he can become even a 4th liner - it’s win for the organization

Wolfpack playing Springfield, which is four points ahead of the Pack. Last weekend the teams played 0-0 in regulation with the Pack losing in the shootout.

In tonight's game Springfield scores a power play goal from a scramble in the front with the Pack outshooting Springfield until the power play and Springfield outshooting the Pack 18-13, The line of Trivigno, Henriksson and Di Giacinto had several good chances. Kalynuk took the penalty, a marginal call. Kalynuk and Lockwood looked like they knew what they were doing.

Domingue in goal. Kalynuk in for Scanlin. Lockwood in for Rempe.

Robertson-Emberson, Hajek-Jones, Kalynuk-Clendening
Carpenter centering Blidh and Elson
Lesbischen (sp) centering Cuylle and Lockwood
Fritz centering Gettinger and Pajuniemi
Henriksson centering Digiacinto and Trivigno.

Meanwhile Brigdeport leading Charlotte 3-1 after 1.

Providence playing tonight, up 1-0 after 1st
If Prov loses, Berard's final game of season, and likelly his NCAA/HE career
Given the way the Pack play veterans I don't know what we would see from Berard.

ATO and Hartford a possibility after that. Unless they decide to burn a year off his ELC and have him play in Hartford under contract.

Pack lose to Springfield 4-0 giving up 2 PP goals and a short handed goal.

Bridgeport wins moving 2 points up on the Pack and Springfield now six points up on the Pack. Wilkes Barre loses staying three points behind the Pack.

I only saw the first period and the Henriksson-Digiacinto-Trivigno was the best line. I turned in late in the third period and Alex Thomas said that was the best line. Of course they see no PP time because it makes sense to continue to play Carpenter and Lesyschen, and Gettinger and Elson giving the Pack the second worst PP in the league.

I don't know if I'd dial that one back a little. I think people forget how good Stepan was in his D+1 and D+2 years. That second year he led a USA WJC team with Kreider and Carlson to Gold. He was the top scorer in that tournament. To me they're different players anyway. Stepan never more than an average skater with average size survived on guile for a long while and was a borderline 1/2 line center. BMB should be bigger and a better skater but I'd be happy if he ended up a 3C. That's where I think he's heading anyway and it's going to be necessary for him to round out a two way game if that's the case.

Yes, that's true. Stepan would've been a first rounder as soon as just one year later from when he was drafted.

I was just thinking the similarity as a kind of under the radar guy, not being first rounders but both should be good NHL players for the Rangers.

I think with BMB we may have gotten lucky to get a player who should've been a higher pick but bc of the "covid of it all" leading up to his draft he slipped a bit. Still a ways to go in his development but as a 3rd rounder he could turn out a steal.

BMB was also kind of buried last season which may have caused him to be a bit overlooked. He was behind Rory Kerins who was drafted by Calgary and who had 118 points, and for half of the year he was behind Tanner Dickinson who is a Blues pick and was having a great year before he broke his leg. Those guys are both gone and so this year, BMB has been "the guy" and has really flourished. He also picked up the "C" this season which is always a nice feat for a guy in just his second season.

Providence won in OT, face Northeastern Saturday
so the NCAA career most likely ends then, for either Berard or Hughes

Getting BMB at the tail end of the 3rd was excellent for us. He should have gone somewhere around the middle of the 2nd round.
