I gave an update on Edstrom the other day, and since then he has picked up a few more points. In 38 games this year, he has a career high in goals (8), assists (9), and points (17). His previous high in points was 10. He is also playing a career-best 14:21 per game. He has played all over the lineup, on basically every line. I look forward to seeing what he can do next season.
I really really hope he's not the second piece going to Chicago as part of the Kane trade. He has an ELC already and might be a very useful piece next season.

He has the frame to be a good NHLer.

NCAA Conference tournaments begin this weekend, although Hockey East not until next week

Michigan(Cicc), Harvard(Karpa), Gophers(Lamb) pretty much locks for NCAAs, so losses this weekend won't end their season

Cornell(Kempf), Northeastern(Hughes), Merrimack(Ollas), UNO(Mancini) are all 13-17 in PW, so some wins might get them in

seems Providence(Berard, Chmelar) would have to win HE tourney to join NCAA tourney, but can still earn home ice for 1st round
NMich(Kjellberg), Col.Coll(Laba) are mediocre teams who could extend their seasons a week or 2, def would need to win tournament to get into NCAAs

anyway, seasons ending for D1 teams will begin this weekend, altho guys on cusp teams might wait for certainty on selection day, which is March 19

NYR occasionally sign guys after 2 seasons (Step, Lindy)
but current 2 season guys - Mancini, Karpa, Kempf, Ollas - probably haven't earned it yet

NYR might be able to sign Berard as soon as next Wed eve (if PC has a poor weekend and a Wednesday loss)

Kjellberg season could end this weekend too, but hard to see NYR getting him signed to more than AHL PTO or w Jax

was watching some of bu-providence but didnt tune in til mid 2nd...saw berard had the 2 points but i did not see him on the ice when i was watching. not sure if anything went on since i had a couple things going on and was in and out with paying close attention. still expected to at least notice him do something if he was playing and i just never noticed him out there. not trying to knock him for anything when i caught less than half the game but was hoping to see him in the thick of things and generating some offense like hutson for bu.

hutson is a complete baller, incredibly dynamic and elite hockey iq....he looks like fox and karlsson had a baby playing ncaa hockey. will see how he transitions to pro hockey but damn its hard to imagine him not being a great player at any level. noticed him practically every shift for all the right reasons.

Watched a ton of BU this year. Agree about Hutson. He's got real superstar potential. This kid was drafted last year 4 spots away from the 3rd round. 1 pick ahead of ours (Sýkora). It says a lot about how these organizations evaluate talent.

We need two more of Will Cuyle. Othmann is a start. And better.

Let's get one more.
@bobbop Cullye had 7 SOG last night. He's very close and should be the emergency callup if Motte is out for any period of time.

@Daves a mess I know I've been preaching Edstrom here but he's doing all of the right things and developing the right way.

The three of those kids may play an important role for the Rangers as soon as this fall.

They need some solid character guys on ELCs already.

regarding the signed players in Euro leagues
unsure of guidelines/precedent for them joining NA teams post season,
Sykora may be considered for Slovak team at Mens WC,
but that doesn't begin until May 12 (once all euro league playoffs are done)

if i understand what i find online correctly,
today is final day of Slovak league regular season,
and Sykora's Nitra is very likely headed to a best-of-5 play-in round,
as they currently sit 10th in 12 team league,
where 7-10 play-in, then winners join 1-6 for playoffs
so Sykora's season may end within next couple weeks

Edstrom seems in identical situation,
Rogle is within 7-10 in standings, those teams will meet in "round 1" and 2 winners will move on
So his season may end within a couple weeks as well

Once their season ends, they can be recalled and join the Wolf Pack.

That's the kind of stuff that wins games for his team. Keeping in mind that Sykora is just about if not the youngest player taken in last year's draft and he's playing in a very good European men's league---top echelon in his home country. He's on the small side and no doubt probably needs to get a little heavier and stronger but he's a great skater with an engine, a very competitive pest kind of forward with a good grasp of a two way game. He also has put up a pretty decent amount of production for a 17/18 year old this year. Looking at his production it's going to be different than CHL players like Othmann, BMB, Grubbe or Barbashev. He isn't going to have those kind of gaudy production numbers of players playing against 16 to 20 year old competition.
