Laba making the WJC team (albeit a very, uh, average one) is still kinda shocking right? overage 4th round pick with no NTDP background making the team right after his draft?
Yeah can't imagine it happens that often. I've really liked what I've seen from him though, glad to see it's being recognized elsewhere. He's not going to be a star or anything like that but could be a nice under the radar pick for Drury. Seems like everyone that watches the kid has nothing but positive things to say about him.

Realized there wasn't much (if any at all) discussion on Brody Lamb, the Minn. public high school kid we took in the fourth round of 2021, so I checked in on him.

He has 2 goals and an assist in 19 games as a freshman at U Minnesota.

I loved the pick at the time, for no reason other than the story of a public high school kid making some noise in this org, even if he was always a project and a half and it's not looking promising at this point.

The Gophers are great this year; I'm wondering if anyone had any insight as to how he's doing in the program beyond just his (underwhelming) stats. Public high school to USHL to NCAA is an extreme leap in quality of play to make in such a short period of time, and I imagine he had to relearn how to just lace his skates. I'm curious if he's adjusting on any level or if he just looks lost. But he showed a lot of progress on the score sheet from his first USHL campaign to his second, going from 2 points in 10 games to 41 in 62 with 19 goals, so someone give me a reason to continue to dream, thanks.
I dont have that insight, but not surprised.
In most 'name' NCAA programs, freshmen, unless exceptional, or there are exceptional circumstances, may not get consistent ice time starting out.

The team named Soo lost 9-0 last night. Our boy Bob had 1 shot on goal, was 8 of 17 on faceoffs, and somehow managed to escape with only a -1 rating. He plays again today at 2 EST.

Grubbe had an assist in Red Deer's 6-4 win, with 4 shots on goal, a +2 rating, and was 15 out of 22 on faceoffs. He plays again tonight at 9 EST.

Moose Jaw won 6-2. Korczak had a goal and 2 assists, 4 shots, a +2 rating and was 10 of 19 on faceoffs.

Nate Leaman is one of the best coaches in the NCAA.

It's one of those programs where late picks and undrafted players excel and are prepped for the NHL.

Kevin Rooney
Jake Walman
Brandon Duhaime
Brandon Tanev
Noel Acciari
Jacob Bryson
Mark Jankowski
Mark Jankowski does not fit with those other names but your point still stands.

Jankowski was a completely different draft scenario from the others...

Does this basically imply he’s more responsible for the off-ice incident than initially thought?

Not necessarily. The Rangers are in constant communcation with HK Nitra's management, and it wouldn't surprise me if the Rangers have requested them to release him. They did the same with Lias Andersson in 2017-18, although in that case they did not need permission since he was a 1st round pick.

This is great news. I feel his game is better suited for the smaller ice. He is a agitator type. This will show his skill. I can see him getting into some fights and play a north south pesky game while showing his offensive and defensive skill that he has. His speed will be suited for the smaller ice. importing thing about this, he will get much more ice time.

No because he probably wouldn't be allowed to leave the country if that were the case lol.

Come on.

I never said he was indicted for something. The tweet I quoted specifically mentioned that his other teammate - the one who sent someone to the hospital and is now not playing at the WJC - was going through the exact same transfer process.

I find it odd that they’re both going through this process at the same time. That just felt weird. It made me wonder if there was an issue internally with Nitra. Truly an interesting coincidence if they’re just doing it because Nitra is mediocre within the same week.

Get off your high horse. It’s an Internet forum.

Just tired of your doomsday worst case scenario with every single post.

It’s never as bad as you think it is. Case in point: Othmann didn’t get cut from Team Canada
