Bold prediction - Othmann doesn’t make Team Canada.
Unlikely, but weirder things have happened.

Othmann and Wright playing together is the main reason he accepted the invitation in the first place.
This notion that he is not a lock just because he played in today's exhibition game is nonsense. They need 20 skaters to play the game. They can't rest all the players who are a lock, but Othmann certainly is.
Lol, I didn’t even know about an exhibition game. What happened there?
I said it was unlikely. He’ll probably slot in next to Wright. But everyone thought Othmann was a top 6 lock 12 months ago and he didn’t make the team. And Team Canada has a history of making obscure decisions. And Othmann has shown some suspect behavior on the ice lately. Weirder things have happened. Brandt Clarke didn’t make it last year.
Shane Wright was also garbage last time he played in this tournament and is hardly a can’t-miss player. Something tells me he doesn’t get to call the shots on who makes Team Canada.
Weird thing to call ‘nonsense’.
Shane Wright never played in this tournament.
I’m in favor of letting goalies get as many reps as possible. So that means leaving them in the minors longer if they’re to come up as the backup. If the goalie is going to be starting, fine to bring him up sooner. But goalies seem to just need reps and reps and reps. The rangers really delayed Georgiev’s development by bringing him up young and sitting him on the bench.Garand is only 20 and in his first year as a pro. Huska was older, but playing against a stacked Colorado team, so it wasn't really fair to him. McKenzie Skapski played 2 games (at age 20) for us in 2014-15, both against Buffalo. He won them both, giving up only 1 goal total, but Buffalo was the worst team in the league that year. So yeah, maybe Garand could do well against a bad team, but I wouldn't put him out there against a really good team.
Yes, it will take a few years before Garand is NHL ready, but you can say that of pretty much any 20 year old goalie. Very few make it to the NHL full time before age 23. His small sample size in the AHL thus far doesn't diminish what he has accomplished previously and shouldn't be any kind of red flag concerning his future performance.
Let's see where he's at by the end of the season, but right now he's still our top goalie prospect.
Othmann made Team Canada which is not surprising hopefully he has a larger role compared to last tournament
We have 4 prospects currently confirmed for the WJC, with a 5th still a posibility.
Kalle Väisänen (Finland)
Adam Sýkora (Slovakia)
Jarin Chmelař (Czechia)
Brennan Othmann (Canada)
Noah Laba* (United States)
Yes, that's what happened last year and Chmelar was the last cut. Given he made the team last tournament, though, and that he's playing well for Providence, I would think he's close to a lock. He will probably have a decent role, too.I expect that Chmelar will make the Czech team but that roster list above has 27 players and I think they need to cut at least 3 or 4 guys.

Oh, right. I thought they had already picked their final roster. Chmelař missed out as a final cut a year ago, then made it over the summer. This was the reason he didn't attend Rangers prospect development camp as they encouraged him to try and earn a spot for the August WJC.
I doubt he is a final cut though.
He's having a good freshman year at Providence College or at least it seems that way to me. It's a really good college hockey program.
