Berard, Cuylle and/or Othmann could be ready as early as next season, but for the rest, I think it will be a few years.
From just the few highlights I’ve seen, Berard seems kind of slow. Like, a lot of wasted motion in his stride. But I am no expert and have only seen a handful of highlights. Just my impression. I hope I’m wrong.

It's weird. Brett Berard last year was zipping around the rink like a jitterbug both in WJC and at Providence. This year, he's been playing a different style. It's unclear why. But I don't think his current style will be his pro style. He will need to go back to his approach last season if he turns pro.

Good thing we're getting the real P Kane cause that celly was brutal.
I was literally about the post something similar, that celly was awful

He's definitely getting hot though, only 3 assists in his first 6 games....3 goals/3 assists in the last 3 games.

Hopefully at least a few of Laba, Barbashev, Grubbe, McDonnell-Barker, Sykora, Berard, Cullye, Othmann make it and help solidify out bottom six.

That's another area Gorton failed where Drury is going to cement his legacy.

This team competing for a Cup the next 3-5 years is going to need middle six ELCers who can eventually slide into top six roles when other guys price out AND also be bang for buck while improving.

You're not winning crap with Ryan Carpenter, Jimmy Vesey, Ryan Reaves getting important minutes. You need guys with better motors who can pop some goals here and there AND be extremely useful special team players.

I think most of us know this year's team is too top heavy and doesn't have enough protein. Unless Igor goes 86 or 93 Roy and Mike/Panarin have a Conn Smythe worthy tournament, this year's version of the Rangers has second round max.

Mika was pacing Conn Smythe until we were eliminated. We all know he will bring it in the playoffs. Bread will be fine. Igor had a magnificent first crack at the playoffs. All three now proven in the playoffs, no doubt.

Though I agree, 12 games in we look like a second round team. We heal up, Igor goes on a tear, we get some more production from the kids - sky's the limit. We just need a few breaks here. Been an ugly & unlucky season so far and our record still isn't that bad.

Teams key on Othmann. Cuylle said it in the playoffs last year, the strategy was to take away Othmann.

He was absolutely fine. 16 SOG through those 3 games, just couldn't find the finish except for one time. Didn't see the two previous games but I did see much of today's game. I only remember 2 penalties, a slash and then a matching roughing when he got into it after the slash. He looked like he always looks, which is to say he looked like the most dangerous player out there most shifts.

Ok well seems like he didnt have great games, points or no points. Was negative in all 3 games. It happens hes not gonna have his A game every week
He should quit the team and just spend the year writing a dissertation on the royal road revolution.

It’s nice to have an NHL team that’s very capable of competing and at the same time, have some prospects worth being excited about. Too often it’s one or the other.

I don't think it's that rare for teams in EARLY competing cycle. Yes it's obviously much more rare (and btw pretty directly connected) for team in their down part of that cycle
