I think so. He has a pro frame, plays a 200-foot game, works hard, can play all three forward positions, kills penalties. I don't think there's a ton of upside there, but from the little I've seen of him he gets around pretty good out there and has some offensive sense. Obviously he has the bloodlines.Is Karpa a legit prospect? I remember reading some draft day stuff on him that made him out to be an after thought.
I know a lot of people like taking high-upside kids late in the draft. They've done plenty of that in recent years. It's smart to balance that out with different types of players, like Edström, who maybe don't have the upside but have a more direct path to the NHL. I haven't seen enough of Karpa to really have a true read on him, but he seems to check the boxes on a potential bottom six NHLer.
