Othmann has just stepped on the ice with his new team, the Petes, with a new number..... #8.
Trouba trade confirmed?!?!?!?!Othmann has just stepped on the ice with his new team, the Petes, with a new number..... #8.
I said just the other day, if he gets it under control, I think we'll all love him. I have to say though when I saw this trade and how it went down, it kind of game me some bad vibes. Hopefully on a couple years we all look back and chuckle and this isn't a Lias Andersson-type situation.I’ve repeatedly said Othmann’s attitude issues are going to be a problem. When he got the short end of the stick at the WJC everyone brushed it off as Canada being Canada. Have a look at the Flint board - there’s some good tidbits there. He’s got a lot of maturing to do (a lot more than most players his age, before the ‘I’m sure you were perfect at 19’ posts role in).
Whoever interviews our prospects to assess their character clearly has the emotional intelligence of a six year old.
If his attitude is so bad, why did Flint make him captain?I’ve repeatedly said Othmann’s attitude issues are going to be a problem. Exactly. There are 2-3 bitter fans on he Flint board, everything is hearsay, I wouldn't read into anything I see there. He'll be here next season and we can see for ourselves. If his attitude is so bad, why did Flint make him captain?
Better than drafting a rapist or a sociopathic bully...I’ve repeatedly said Othmann’s attitude issues are going to be a problem. Maybe they just decided to go conservative and have him play another season in a familiar place rather than start shutting around the States. I think that for most of these kids, steady and digestible jumps makes sense.Oh yikes. Back to Juniors as an overage player. Guess they really didnt think he was ready for the AHL. Suprised they didnt send him to the ECHL instead.

Well that stinks to see. You’d like to think an overage year wouldn’t be necessary. If anything I’d think they’d give him some time in the ECHL like Ronning did. I guess they really don’t think he’s ready. If they foresaw that I wonder if they’d have offered him a contract. I remember some Brayden Pointe comparisons when he was drafted (obviously, that was an extreme long shot.)Oh yikes. Back to Juniors as an overage player. It's a pretty lateral move. The Petes suck offensively and win by being excellent defensively. I can understand why they'd want to add Othmann. It's a bit surprising Flint would move him out now, unless maybe they were frustrated with him? Who knows.

One of these days I will bump into Team Canada coach Dave Cameron and I'm straight up asking him the low down on Othmann ...his Summer home is near by and I played ball with Dave years ago . He will give me the goods off the cuff...attitude I can handle as could the Rangers if he has the skills to back it up .We need some assholes on this team
What we have are vanilla, get someone in there with an attitude.
I'm happy he's a prick .
It depends on what type of prick he is. If he's the Sean Avery/Tony DeAngelo type, we don't need more of that.We need some assholes on this team

I wouldn’t mind someone bordering on Sean Avery. I heard someone compare Othmann to the Tkachuk brothers. I have no idea if his talent is comparable, but we could use some of that. This has been a Coombia type of lockeroom at times to I think a detriment. It depends on what type of prick he is. If he's the Sean Avery/Tony DeAngelo type, we don't need more of that.

Better than drafting a rapist or a sociopathic bully...
If he’s such a good captain, why did Flint, who is supposed to be a very competitive team, trade him a month into the season?
I’m not closing the door on him. I agree with others that if reigned in his attitude can be a good thing. He’s also a heck of a player, of course. But the mental gymnastics on this board about his behavior are truly something. If you really don’t want to believe something you can convince yourself it’s the case.
The bar is fairly low these days I see.

IMHO this is not a big deal, He'll get much more ice time and responsibility, and be much more ready by his likely return to Hartford in the spring
It's on the AHL transactions page now.btw no independent confirmation of the Capfriendly Transactions tweet, YET
finding no other reports online yet,
Pack still show Korczak on roster, NYR site has nothing (but we know those sites are not prompt in sharing news)
also that tweet just says Junior
Moose Jaw doesn't list him
they currently have two 'overager' 20-year-olds on their roster, an F and a D
IIRC they are allowed 3Moose Jaw Warriors

also possible his rights were traded to another WHL team
UPDATE FYI this is where it may be posted when official:
... MAYBE not, these only seem be transactions BETWEEN teams, if he is assigned to MJW, maybe not hereWestern Hockey League
