Try a fractured L-5 vertebra. Quite a while with muscle relaxers and opiates with that. Took me several months to walk on my own again.
I hear ya bro, but a kidney stone is something on a totally different level imo. . Can't explain it other than it's like getting filleted from the inside out. And if it gets stuck in your eurethra, it feels like someone pulls your balls onto a table and Phil Collins does the drum solo to " In The Air tonight" for an hour with a hammer.

Can relate to you both. Had fractured vertebrae in a massive car accident back in 1986 where I broke 27 bones... (head on collision with a lumber truck that by accident ventured onto my side of the road). 6 times I have had kidney stones and they are really really painful. Open heart double bypass surgery in 2016 compounded with complicated lung surgery right after that. But nothing hurt me as much as the heartbreak as when I found out my (ex)wife was banging two of my better friends. And that Beauty Queen babe that suddenly dumped me and chose my other bad boy buddy cuz I was "too nice". It all led somewhere else - for better or worse. We live. We learn. We hurt. We love. We suffer. We heal... and we stubbornly move forward until one day we drop.

On March 2nd, 2023 the Rangers play the Ottawa Senators at the Garden. This is their last game before the 2023, March 3rd NHL trading deadline.

8 games earlier the Rangers play in Vancouver the Canucks on February 15th, 2023.

Flint Firebirds are scheduled to play 5 games in that time period, starting on February 16th and ending on February 26th.

Depending on the Firebirds standings, does anyone have an opinion on if this would be a good time to give Brennan Othmann his 9 game look?

Othmann can only play 8 games in the NHL reg season because he cannot be recalled until Flint is eliminated (Assuming they don't make the playoffs).

Well said sir.

But I'd pull my wifes clothes off personally, and make her ride my brother like Sea Biscuit, if it made that kidney stone pain go away.

I feel like we should be on a boat hunting a shark having this conversation.

Imagine my excitement. 2 whole pages of new prospect updates! But it’s just conversation about how old we’re getting and our ailments. I absolutely love it. But guys what if the prospects are reading this stuff? I can’t wait for one of you to meet Brennan Othman and have him ask you how your kidney stones are doing. But honestly I’m here for all of it. I appreciate the honesty. I mean that wholeheartedly. Also to the 70+ers, sorry about your balls.

Honestly as someone who follows the prospects obsessively, this has been an awesome start. BMB and Barbashev are both at a PPG, and while that's not always a barometer for success for junior players, it's a significant improvement over what they did last season, which is what you want to see. Othmann is basically toying with the league, and even Grubbe has had an awesome start--I think the points will dry up a bit, but he's clearly shown that he did make it back successfully from the knee surgery.

In college, all the new picks and legit prospects are off to good starts. Berard is the exception with just 4 assist in 7 games, but he has been active and involved like normal and I think he's just had a bit of bad luck. Chmelar is having an excellent start and showing the skill/power game that got him drafted to begin with. Laba is off to a great start, Lamb is playing well given his circumstances, Zarpa had a nice opening weekend, and so forth. Hughes, Ciccolini, those guys aren't really prospects, so I don't count them.

The Euro guys, it's a bit different. Edstrom has struggled, Tarnstrom has been invisible, Aaltonen is injured and cementing himself as a non-prospect. Vaisanen hasn't taken any steps forward. Fortunately Sykora is off to good start, having a significant role on the team and also showing decent production.

All in all it has been a good start for our guys. More guys with rising stock than falling stock.
I'm not too worried about Edstrom. He looked great in camp. Is there the possibility he's another Richard Nezelcheb (remember him?), absolutely.

He has a contract, all he has to do is get faster, stronger, and the fundies right. It's about fall 2023 for him.

Life takes us places and it's not always nice....that's for sure. Resilience is a big deal. There's always forward though sometimes forward is in a completely other direction to the path we were on or thought we were on. I look at my kids and I don't want to be a bad example for them......someone who gives up as soon as adversity hits. So those are things too. Some of your story reminds me of my dad who was shot twice in WWII--later on had a couple angioplasties, triple heart bypass surgery in his late 60's and went on 20 more years through three bouts with cancer....had both knees and both retinas replaced. He never wavered on anything.....the bypass surgery they gave him 10% chance and he just told the surgeon to 'do your best'. He was a rock.

Spoke with a good friend of mine who’s involved with collegiate hockey.

He’s been at 3 Wolfpack game’s recently and his evaluation was bleak to say the least .

His statement on the last place Wolfpack is as follows:

“Not one guy on that roster is an nhl player and the guy Harpur we just signed is an orange pylon.
Cuylie not a pro nor is the goalie nor is Rydahl.”
Drury needs to stop giving away talent ( lundkvist)
The Rangers are a thin team .
Jonny Brodzinski is by far the best player .
Hartford- 5 years on is still a mess.

the Rangers better not trade him for Kane
He’s gone

Sorry but Cuylle and Garand are both off to pretty good starts and 20 year olds. Your friend involved with collegiate hockey is looking at players mostly between 19 and 25 and though there are a lot of very good players playing in Division 1 college hockey those leagues really aren't on par with the AHL. Most players won't turn pro.....of those who do most won't be NHL players and far more play in lesser leagues like the ECHL or all over Europe.

As well there are really no pathways open onto the Rangers top 6 forwards or top 4 defensemen for the foreseeable future. Those slots are taken. That doesn't mean bottom 6 forward slots or bottom pairing defense openings might not open up and a player like Rydahl could potentially fill one. He doesn't have to be a top AHL scorer necessarily to be such a guy......and he's an experienced 28 year old SHL pro who could easily play in just about any NCAA college program out there if he were eligible. FWIW Rydahl was one of the last players cut and Gallant and the Rangers staff played him in 4 of the 6 preseason games. If the Rangers didn't see him as a serious contender for a bottom 6 job they wouldn't have give him look after look.

As for Nils he should become a very good NHL player but was superfluous as far as the near future needs of our team......something he understood which is why he decided to hold out from training camp. He forced the issue but FWIW he was also going into his D+ 5 season. The Dallas 1st we'll pick up is in what looks to be a very deep draft and as long as we don't trade it will allow us to address other positions than RD which appears set for years to come with what very likely could be a better player than Nils (who I think tops out as a good second pairing D) given time for that player to develop. It was a good deal for us and a good outcome for him.

When you involved with college hockey…

Yeah, I’ve watched most of the packs games this year and that analysis is not accurate. The team has gotten off to rough start but the last few games have started looking like a real team again. But Rydahl looked decent until he got banged up. Garland looked fantastic and calm in his last start. Cuylle is showing promise and there are a bunch of other players who are looking better. Emberson is looking better since a rough first few. Harpur isn’t much tho. Agreed there. And do we lack significant depth in the A, I agree with that too.

As for Nils, we didn’t trade him because we wanted to. But we got a first rounder in a very deep draft. It is what it is.

Just one other thing. I would have to question the expertise of someone with a college hockey background looking at the Pack and saying there’s nothing worthwhile there…..overlooking Bobby Trivigno who was an outstanding college hockey player…the offensive catalyst for the National champion UMass Amherst team in 20-21. It took Martin St. Louis a similarly sized player to Trivigno a few years to really get his pro game together but Trivigno’s college career is not all that dissimilar. Just saying. The undrafted St. Louis like Trivigno also had a chip on his shoulder feeling disrespected because of his size.

Yeah, I don't really understand the assessment. It also ignores the fact that Lafreniere and Kakko are already in the NHL, when guys their age would normally be in the AHL. Miller skipped Hartford. Lundkvist pussed out. Kravtsov probably should be there but we all know how that went. Jones and Schneider just graduated. We'd have Hunt as another depth forward to call upon if he wasn't claimed. Gauthier was there and he's a decent depth forward.

The state of Hartford isn't some organizational failing, it's just circumstance. In a not-unrealistic alternate reality you could have Gauthier, Hunt, Kravtsov, and Jones playing there now and the perception would be totally different.

Yes. We can.

Cuylle, Garand, Domingue, Rydahl (if he wasn’t banged up), Robertson, Emberson, Pajuniemi, Trivigno, Gettinger could all come up tomorrow if needed.

Are any deserving to stay long term? I dunno. Rydahl likely. Garand could easily be up here but he needs more ice than a backup. Same issue for Cuylle, Robertson, Emberson and Trivigno. I’d rather them get more TOI then 7-8 min in NHL.

For whatever reason the rangers ahl team usually sucks but we’ve also seen a million guys come up and contribute. I would like the Rangers to focus on making their ahl affiliate a winner but for whatever reason they don’t care and still get players that way. I’d water there are five guys down there - a quarter of their roster - who end up with NHL careers. That is not bad.

more diligent guys may be able to cite another instance

but the last Emergency recall which I recall, by NYR, of a Junior player
was this unexpected appearance by an 18-year-old Goalie

View attachment 601352

I will do you one better. In the history of the New York Rangers, only 3(!) players were ever recalled from juniors after the start of the season.

Walt Tkaczuk on 01/22/1968
John Vanbiesbrouck in 01/18/1981
Mark Janssens in 12/07/1988
