so 6G 5A in 5 games for Othmann? What a good pick by Drury. Only better payer he could have picked there would have been Wyatt Johnston probably.

I have pretty high hopes for Grubbe, Sykora and of course Othmann. I think the former two will be valuable role players and Othmann a very valuable top sixer.

that was hilarious...good to see that guy just grab him and shut things down seeing it was a kid he probably had 80+? pounds on. kids a bit lucky there, the tom wilsons of the world would take the opportunity to rearrange his face. like the fearlessness, questionable survival skills

I wouldn't exactly say Sykora took Bondra on. He just did his job....hit him and squeezed him out of the play. Most players these days don't fight as it is and it's not what we drafted Sykora for.

Jayden Grubbe is having himself quite the start to his season. Had a goal and 2 assists today to get to 8 points in his first 4 games

Was telling everyone who would listen last year that Grubbe will be the Rangers future 3rd line center at worst. After the knee injury he had it takes a season of playing to get back to that level. He is going to be a fan favorite at MSG!! To start the 24/25 season I can see the lines being

Kreider - Zibanejad - Kakko

Panarin - Trochek - Lafreniere

Sykora - Chytil - Othman

Cuylie - Grubbe - Goodrow

He wasn't even on my radar, should I be paying attention to him?

What kind of stats should we be expecting for Othmann this year since he's older and playing Juniors?
Well he's not an overage player or anything in the league. His stats last year were fantastic, so anything better than last year is great. Plus improvement on his overall/defensive game. He could easily end the season top 3 in goals and points.

Awesome start for him! It would be great if he has a huge breakout year in juniors this season. I know it's just 4 games but he's at a 2.00PPG to start after only scoring around .5 last year. If he can double it that would be great.

The Sutters made him C at 18. That alone caught my attention.

Last season was so strong, stats wise, just coming close to those again, given leadership role, and a target on his back, will be sufficient

The kid was named a Captain at Red Deer by Brent Sutter as a 17 year old then blew out his knee after the first week of the season. He came back last season and had to shake off the cob-webs and did not put up the numbers people want to see. Everything you need to know is, he is big, physical, can skate, win draws and was named Captain by Brent Sutter at 17. Brent loves this kid and that is enough for me. If he didn't get hurt would have been a late first/ early second round pick his draft year as he was climbing everyones draft board. We were able to pick him with the 1st pick of the 3rd round and in a few years he will be a steal at that spot.

Couldn’t agree more on Grubbe. Been calling for this organization to pick him before he actually was. Not every prospect has to put up Michael St. Croix numbers in juniors. A team needs to fill spots in their lineup with players who can fill those roles.

he was named Captain at 17- he is only 19 now. was named Captain before his draft eligible year. Only played a few games and was Captain that season. then got injured. was drafted then played played year 2 as captain last year as an 18 year old. This is his 3rd year as captain and he is 19, turns 20 in January

Question about Othmann, how does he compare to JT Miller at the same age? I know no one, not even NYR or TB saw him becoming what he became but Miller makes me hopeful about guys like Othmann ending up a strong first liner.

The projected offensive upside for Othmann is higher than for Miller at the same stage.

When Miller was drafted one of the questions was whether he'd be able to transition his offensive game to the NHL in a top 6 role or would he be an effective, pain in the arse, 3rd liner.
He went ppg in his D+1 which didn't help answer the question, and the went to Hartford for his D+2 where it was more of the same. He was going to be in the NHL it was just a question of whether he was Dubinsky like player or something else. Him being a 50pt player for us was a nice surprise and attitude issues aside was pretty much him hitting and exceeding draft expectations. His NHL ppg stuff I don't think was picked by anybody

With Othmann the top 6 scoring is an expectation, especially after his D+1 and now start to this season, so if he tops out as a 3rd liner it's a disappointment

Is PPG 1st liner realistic?
