He should not be doing that
That is part of his game. He has that edge. He was sticking up for a teammate. Yea I know fans want him to skate away because they don't want him to get hurt. I got no problem with Othmann sticking up for a teammates. Fans don't say this about Trouba, Goodrow or Lafréniere when they drops the gloves 🤬

yeah i agree i was just going for an obvious "punchline"

Is Edstrom going to be a winger or center in pro? I always noticed him as a winger. does he play center in the league he is in right now?
He plays all three forward positions, but Rögle deploys him primarily on the wing. I think he profiles better on the wing long term, but I'm not sure how the Rangers view him.

What type of player, what is upside, player comparison , not familiar with him?
He's still really raw so it's hard to say what his upside really is, or what he'll look like in a few years. Last season he played in the Finnish junior league, and struggled to produce. But, he's already 6'4" and 200+ and shows a blossoming power forward game. He showed some nice physicality in the WJC, and in that clip you see him hovering around the goal using his big frame. I think that's what he'll eventually become. He does seem to have some skill to him, and is at least an average skater, so he definitely bears watching.

I want to say a poor man’s Ruslan Fedotenko, but someone may have a more astute comparison.

That doesn't seem like a great player. Ruslan Fedotenko himself was a very good 4th liner and not much more. The fact that he was a third liner on that 2011-12 team says more about that team than him.

Feds was legit. 360+ points in 860+ games. He was always a good third line player wherever he was. If Chmelar became anything resembling Fedotenko, that would be a grand f***ing slam.

That said I've never been good with player comparisons, so IDK what to offer on that.

I was thinking Frederic Modin if lucky at worse Viktor Stalberg. Would that be a good comparison for Chemar?

Stalberg seems like it would be fair. Maybe I shouldn't have implied poor man's. Feds was amazing at his job for a long time, potentially Chemlar could be that 4th line guy that chips in on your 3rd in place of injuries it seems.

The little bit of Chemlar I've caught he's obviously a big body, he doesn't play overly physical for his size but he is far from timid, if that makes sense. I think he can learn to be smarter with how he uses his size. I also feel like I've noticed him (again limited viewings) on the forecheck quite a bit, in some dirtier areas. Bottom six primarily a 4th line guy who can chip in offensively with some gritty work.

Again, someone more astute than me who's watched him a bit can probably answer better, but that's my read on the few times I've caught him. I'm hoping to catch them play this year, maybe @Army in Jan.

@nyr2k2 your boy is a #1d

had thought he transferred to NMU play along side his brother,
but now, at least per EP, brother may not join NMU until '24-25...
