On Edstrom, does his contract slide since he is playing back in sweden? I wonder why the Rangers did not feel that AHL was best for his development. Or did he have 1 more year in Sweden left? Is he a winger or a center? does he take faceoffs consistently in Sweden? At Rangers camp I noticed he was a winger. I think him at center ice would have help his game thrive.

There are some byzantine rules about him, his draft position, his contract status with Rögle, age, etc. Basically he had to either play in the NHL or be offered back to Rögle, who still had him under contract. AHL wasn't an option. Also, there's no slide here.

I don't disagree with your thinking, but they reviewed that hit and determined it was a head hit under their rules, and threw him out. Go en that he's a multiple-time offender, I think another suspension is given, but who knows.
Ugh, i agree, i do think he gets a game or two, but IMO he shouldn’t.

How it should be w freshman. Unless exceptional(Stepan, Lindgren), NYR won't seriously try to sign before after '25 season, soonest
These 3-4 seasons will impact what he becomes

Its a cool era, for NYR to have so many kids playing D1

I see a bigger Casey Cizakis. Hope he is good on faceoffs.

Anyone know what line he is on? Seems to be getting a lot of ice time for a freshman since he’s on both the PK and PP units. That’s great to see.
Centering the second line between a dude named Gleb Yeremyev and a dude named Matthew Gleason. Yeremyev is also a freshman, Gleason is a junior who had 16 points in 28 games last season.

Yeremyev and Laba played together in Lincoln (USHL). Most of the guys from Colorado College played in the USHL. One of the goalies also played with Yeremyev and Laba.

Colorado college has been in the bottom part of the NCAA for a while now, so there isn't a huge stockpile of talent blocking him like, say, Ciccolini at Michigan

BMB not having the ideal start, just 2 points in the first 5 games. Though he did have 8 shots today, just nothing to show for it.

Three guys on the same team named Noah. That probably hasn't happened since the great flood.
They also have 15 guys who were in the USHL immediately before playing for Colorado College, and by my count only two guys on the whole roster who didn't play in the USHL at some point before college.

Really shows the growth of the USHL in the last 20 years, and how important the USHL is for the NCAA hockey programs. I read over 90% of USHL guys go on to play NCAA D1 in some capacity. It's even more important for schools like Colorado College who can't recruit like a Michigan or a Minnesota, and who can pull all the older guys from the USHL programs and plug them right in.
