With Richard gone, who's going to be the vets on this team? I'm thinking they'll need to pick up players. This is a super young team. I can't see Belzile going back.

Belzile just sign with NYR

There will be options not to worry but Belzile leadership will be miss for sure with a young team
Crap. Well, they did just sign 2 guys I see. So there's my answer

Stephens, Maillet will be the vets up front and Keeper, Beaudin on defense. You could also add Rem Pitlick and Chris Wideman if they go through waivers.

They have a ton of prospects coming in, so you need to leave some space. It will be a young team for sure.

They signed Maillet. Who has a total of 92 pts in 113 games the last two years in the KHL.

Lavoie said Richard will sign with the Bruins.

Really having a hard time with the organizational philosophy. I understand signing veterans to NHL 2 way deals if you intend for them and not the prospects to be injury call-ups. If not, then just sign guys like Maillet who is already 30 to AHL deals for bigger money say 1M and not have to deal with them clearing waivers. If disaster strikes and you need them in the NHL you can always give them a contract during the season. Not like Montreal doesn't have the money to do this. Looking for an NHL paycheck seems more important to the local guys, than playing at home, so do something about it.

So The Laval Rocket could look like this this year:
Gignac-Maillet-Ylonen
Heineman-Pitlick-Stephens
Farell-Condotta-Simoneau
Kinney-Mysak-Roy
McKay

Beaudin-Keeper
Struble Wideman
Trudeau-Mailloux
Norlinder-Tourigny
Galope au -L.P Jones

Primeau dobes

If you want Maillet and you expect him to sign an AHL deal, you're not getting him.

Similar to Richard and Stephens last year. Remember when they signed Richard, everyone was saying the same as you (why not sign them to AHL deals?)

A 30 year old probably would be interested in an AHL deals if he is making a guaranteed $500,000 more than on an NHL 2 way deals. Belzille has a $450,000 AHL portion of his contract, think if he was offered $1M guaranteed he wouldn't take it?

Davidson could be added, as could Reinbacher if he and the organization decide he is better off for his development in America than in Europe.

You say it like you're his agent and he would accept an AHL deal.

You bring up Belzile as an example. He was signed to an NHL deal, btw. Not an AHL deal at 31 years old.

$750,000 NHL and what I saw was $450,000 AHL so if you offered him 1M guaranteed, I don't need to be his agent to guess what he would sign.

Again, you offer him an AHL deal, he's not signing with you.
Then he's an idiot, if a guaranteed extra $550,000 is not of interest to him. All he has to do is look at all the guys he played with here, and see none of them played more than a handful of games in the NHL after signing elsewhere.

Dude, can you understand you're not getting the guy if you offer him an AHL deal? On top of that, do you know what he's guaranteed to get? Are you aware of the details of the contract?

Can’t believe we lost Dubé, that f***ing sucks. Wished we would have given him that ELC ☹️

Very different team in 23-24 for sure, with the influx of prospects alone. They're going to need to sign a few more AHL vets to hold everything together. It does feel like they mostly wanted a clean slate though, they made little effort to keep the vets they had.
