McKay and Parker-Jones coming back.

Two guys who mostly bring sandpaper, which I like because they can't all be skill guys. But also guys who would normally be in 3R.

It also looks like we will see a few AHL deals announced over the next little while.

McKay I get, but JPJ doesn't really do anything. He's big but doesn't use his size too often and I rarely saw him fight. The guy only had like 34 pm . McKay had over 100. People think cuz he's huge that he's a fighter. I haven't seen that.

He doesn't need to fight often. But in his 20 games with Laval, he had 4 fights.

He'll most probably be with 3R, but just to have a big body who plays with sandpaper is something worth having in the minors.

He was pretty impressive in the camps. Good skater for his size.

Kidney, Roy, Tourigny, Dobes, Struble, Tourigny, Simoneau, Fairbrother, Norlinder, most likely Mesar, maybe Mailloux, possibly Farrell, Davidson.

Tourigny I asasume starts in 3R unless the Habs can move some bodies. I could see Davidson having to go there as well although we'll see how things play out as you got to find room for everyone but you don't want say a Kidney or Roy to be on the 4th line whereas with Davidson it wouldn't be as much of a concern to have him on Laval's 4th line.

Mesar and what they opt to do with him will be very interesting. Do they reward someone that I would say didn't always work hard or play with enough intensity more consistently, by allowing him to go to the pro league like he wants to or do they get tough with him and send him back to the OHL to play better all round.

Mailloux should be a lock for Laval, can't wait to see how that goes.

Teasdale - PF, he should get more looks in the NHL at some point next year but he needs so much work on getting quicker, improving skating. He's missed so much time to the knee injury, I had wondered if his career would be over but so far he's been able to stay healthy. I don't have a lot of hope that he can be a long term solution but he's got size, hands as he can pot a few and will take the body though he's not a banger.

Condotta - bottom 6 defensive forward, he will likely see more games in the NHL, he's got size, skating, speed, works hard, finishes his checks, solid two way game as his offense flashed a little more then I expected. He's a guy that no one really talks about and then you see him end up playing 3-4 years in the NHL and you go really that guy? Don't get me wrong, I have been a supporter of his all year, he impressed. Now I don't think he has enough offense to stick in the NHL full time but that's the big question for him.

Farrell - top 6 winger. High end skill and IQ, plays the game well and can play in all situations on any line. He's small though and not blazing fast so he is going to need to work hard this off-season to get stronger, quicker and add mass. He will be an NHLer though, just about a lock. I would be utterly shocked if he busted outright.

Xhekaj - Physical, showed more offense then I expected, needs work on his defensive game, mobility, skating. I wouldn't be shocked if the Habs can't move some blueliners that he starts in Laval after missing the final couple months of this season but he will be an NHLer no question.

-Teasdale doesn't have much of an NHL future

-Condotta could see him as a solid 4th liner, but he's a long shot at this point

-Farrell projects as a 2nd line winger maybe 50-60 pts. He has the potential for more but he is quite small. It's unclear if he starts next year in NHL or AHL, but probably AHL

-Xhekaj is a physical defenseman who isn't afraid to fight and impose his will around the net. Needs to improve his defense. Surprisingly good offense. Upside is through the roof... but will likely top out as #3 or #4 defensive-minded very physical type of guy

@Vachon23

I imagine this is what you were hearing when you mentioned that a coaching vacancy will become available in Laval (and it wasn't JF Houle).

For the non-French speaking folk: Marcotte says that Laval's assistant coach Kelly Buchberger's future with the team is uncertain at this moment. He's looking for opportunities that will bring him closer to his family that lives in Western Canada. An assistant coaching job next to JF Houle should be a position a lot of people will be applying for.

I didn’t know who it was, I just know a candidate that is strongly consider to be assistant with Laval so I assume that someone would quit

It can be a really good spot for a young coach looking to give himself a chance at the NHL at some point. Might be a good opportunity to look at a local guy out of the Q as well. Is the head coach from Gatineau still available ? He would be familar with some of our young guys.

Louis Robitaille is available. I believe so is Stephane Julien (coach and GM of Sherbrooke). And Bruce Richardson, who was coach of the Armada was also recently relieved of his duties at Blainville.

I know you've mentioned a few times you would rather they get someone else, but is there a reason you're not big on Robitaille?
Yes, he’s good to bring a culture to a team but he’s getting easily outmatch by other coach, especially in playoff time. His teams always choke in the playoff. His game time adjustment are really poor

It’s not that I don’t like Louis, he’s a great guy but they are way better coach available in the Q.

Do you think he'd be better as an assistant coach where he's not the one calling the shots?

Not really no. The problem is not him calling the shot but him being limited.

His force his really to being a structure to a team but when that team become at maturity, you should change coach. His special teams are not really his force either like Stephane Julien by exemple who have an awesome PP.

Might be worth watching the AHL team next year as they're likely to have some legitimate NHL prospects.

Roy
Struble
Trudeau
Mailloux
Harris?
Reinbacher?
Slafkovsky?
Farrell?
Mesar?
Heinemen?
Kidney?

No offense to RHP, Ylonen, and Norlinder but the above looks more enticing.
