Yeah, it feels like our hands are a little tied. Can't see us finding the cap to make a big splash, so a couple of little tweaks will have to do. I'd still love to see a defensive winger who can play shutdown role (basically Goodrow) and a little depth on the right side to make sure we are only playing Foote when we want to.I think with the moves Toronto and Boston made JBB needs some kind of response, we just need another forward and some D depth. It will come down to depth scoring for us and if Hedman actually shows up. Guy just hasn't been the Hedmonsger since 2020, with playoff McDonagh they desperately need Hedman to actually preform, hoping he had a little juice left and isn't over the hill
When was the last time we chose scoring over defense at the TDL?9 games in the month of February the team gave up 28 goals. In 3 of those games they only gave up two combined. So a path must be decided defensive help or try to add a scoring forward. One school of thought must be chosen. As it is at the moment the team has not taken advantage of there chances to gain home ice. I’m not sure the way things are going they can knock off the Leafs without home ice. As we look back the losses on that west coast trip loom large especially losing to the Yotes.
When was the last time we needed too ? This window the team has had overwhelming scoring abilities top three in goal scoring until Cap started to subtract . We set the example that other teams have built toward. The last two years both scoring and defense has taken hits. The cap is not there to address both do one has to be addressed. Someone suggested a shutdown forward that is not going to be the answer. If JBB addresses defense it must be a rental blue liner capable of the MacD ability. Adding another true sniper in effort to just bury other teams with goals is the other option but again it has to be a true rental. When was the last time we chose scoring over defense at the TDL?
Meier and Kane, yes.It wasn't a good hit that Cernak laid out but how many f***ing times is Okposo going to stare at his ankles and get run over in this league?
Also people don't really think we're after Timo Meier do they?
Toronta is going after Lafferty. Guys stop fcuking give them ideas! Their GM decided "Do everything TB would do" and he just reads this tread thats why they got ROR and Acciari, now is going after Lafferty. We need to decieve them Ill start- We need to go after Karlson without retention! xD
I go back and forth on it. Feels like a better version of NAmestnikov, but that's still likely not good enough to make our top-6. Gotta like the speed, but I'd rather have someone who brings a different element.Kapanen on Waivers now, 3.2M is a lot though. Would have been interesting choice for a top 9 role here.
Agreed. We always tend to depend on one line + PP for scoring in the playoffs. It's gone on for too long for it to be a coincidence rather than just part of the system. I would rather add a two-way guy who can chip in a timely goal or two, but is more here to give us some stability.JBB has usually gone after the 2 way F type, stressing defense 1st but with some scoring ability. Scoring is not the issue, and going out and spending a bunch on some top 6 scoring winger rental isn't the answer. The team has not regressed in terms of offense(unlike what some on here keep saying), but the defense has dropped off compared to the last 3 seasons. Just as a small example, 3 of the last 4 losses, the team scored 3, 4, and 5 goals. I think there's likely enough for 2 or 3 smaller moves, provided Names and one of Foote or Myers are traded. Even if it's just Names, there would be just over 3.2 million available for either two bottom 6 F or one and a dman.
It's pretty funny but Okposo is an actual nice guy so I wish he didn't do that.cernak having all his dirty plays against buffalo is pretty funny. fans of other teams don’t really care about him but sabres fans think he is the dirtiest player in the league
I’m leaning this way as well. While I still see a place for Maroon on the 4th line having him on that 3rd kind is not optimum. I could see playing Perry on 3 but that would totally remove any scoring threat from 4. Bellmare has gotten 5 years older over last summer. How who knows. The drop off in scoring from the blue line has weakened the PP maybe Heddy goes all monster in the postseason but how can the team depend on just hopes heading into the post season , remember the Jackets series where Point, Kuch , Stammer all slumped it was over before they could adjust and that was a far less dangerous team than the Leafs are going to be. Just standing on what the team has done the last three years can not prevent what I fear is going to happen. And in no way am I overvaluing the Leafs but I can not deny they are dangerous. I hope we can send them packing out of the first round for there 18th playoffs. That may be a record. We need speedy defensive forwards that can chip in on offense. Maroon and belle ain’t cutting it this year.
