I feel like Tampa would go after Meier only in 2 circumstances:

1) If this was the last chance at a run with this core, an all-in move like the Bruins just did

2) If there was the chance to re-sign him in the offseason (and my god I'd love to see Meier in Tampa long term, but not possible with our cap situation)

This wasn't really an all in move. The picks are spread out over 3 years and they only gave up 1 roster player. It is a great move by Boston.

I think the best chance to get back to the finals is unfortunately to wait a couple years until the cap clears up a bit and allows us to retool on top end talent.

Yes, we still have a chance to get back this year but it's the lowest is been in a while.

I think JBB will try to keep Hagel and Colton long term I would guess. That would give us Vassy, Kuch, Point, Serge, Paul, Cirelli, Hagel, Cernak and Colton long term. Stamkos and Hedman are up in 2 and 3 years respectfully. I think thats probably the window to retool. They'll probably try to resign both on veteran, more team friendly contracts. If they can save money there they can then look to replace their aged out value.

Just get Maroon off the 3rd line with A solid bottom six upgrade. Then let’s see what happen, Bolts will still be a really tough out.

Step 1: Trade for Meier

Step 2: Win the cup

Step 3: Stamkos retires early after making Tampa a Dynasty and takes a spot behind the bench and we take his 8.5m and give it to Meier

Step 4: Name Hedman the Captain

Step 5: Live happily ever after

At what stage of competition do you think Boston is right now?

We get it, you’re giving up.

Regarding picks: the players we have locked up long term afford us to go without a 1st for a long time. In a few years we're gonna have to replace the contributions of Stamkos and Hedman. 1sts aren't gonna do that. That's probably gonna have to be done through FA.

I never said anything about giving up. I just think theres probably a transition period for things like this. Esspecially getting back to the finals on a retool.

Tampa, FL.
There's no need for Tampa to panic and sell the farm for Meier. JBB needs to bolster the bottom 6 and add a solid defensive dman for when the inevitable injuries happen. The top 6 is already on par or better than anyone else. As long as Vasy is on his A game come playoffs, and Hedman decides he wants to.play something resembling top level hockey again, they'll have a shot against anyone.

I like the assumption that all these moves will actually work. Remember when the Panthers loaded up against us? Remind me how that turned out...

If this year the plan is to go through a weaker at goaltending and better at forward Toronto, a Boston on steroids, and Rangers team that might be getting Kane on top of Tarasenko, I think the plan is absolute shit.

Difference is all these teams are actually as good as us before the trade. Unlike Florida

Bolts fans need to come to the realization that this is who we're going to war with and there's not much we can do to improve other than small tweaks. Every team goes through attrition and other teams are next in line. It's probably our time.

Some of these ideas about Meier and such...lol
If you want to give up already thats on you.

I mean sometimes they do? Remember us adding Bogosian, Coleman and Goodrow? Or the Avs last year?

Panthers went for dumb targets like Chariot who was overrated from the start and placed in a top 4 role which made it an even bigger dud, ROR is a great add and teams adding depth like everyone is doing doesn't hurt, you fail when you add a major piece and it doesn't pay off. The Rangers are the biggest team set to fail, especially if rumors are true they are still going after Kane. Toronto and Boston made some smart moves.

A TB scout at the NJ-LA game is a bit interesting. The Devils only have 2 million in cap space.

Add in Timo Meier and it gets more complex. Add in the fact that only 4 of their NHL forwards have contracts for next season, and it'd make sense if NJ maybe looked to make an additional move or two to facilitate a trade.

Who tf is Austin Watson?

EDIT: This dudes a 4th liner no?
A 4th liner who had behavior and substance abuse and spousal abuse issues in Nashville. He missed time on three different occasions that I recall in substance abuse programs . He was a 4th liner that would chip in 10 or so goals per, basically Maroon with warts.

Sharangovich would be a nice add to the 3rd line. but knowing JBB, we would be looking at Severson or Wood
