Well, if I don't know enough to doubt Beck's offensive prowess, then I don't know enough to be sure of it either. I just think it is premature for me to assume Beck will be able to handle 3C in the NHL next year. Do you disagree?

Yet Nick Lardis went from .5ppg in Peterborough to 1.5ppg in Hamilton after getting traded. The reverse has happened to Beck. His offense has dried up since moving to Peterborough.

And I'm entitled to revise my prediction for this coming Fall from NHLer at 19 playing the 3rd line, to one more OHL year, with a likely short-term (2024-26) future as a good 4th liner whom the coaches will like.

No the claim is Peterborough kills prospects and there's very little evidence to support it being an environment that churns out prospects.

So Beck looks amazing in training camp.
Looks amazing in Mississauga.
Looks great in minimum ice time in Team Canada.
Looks good at an emergency call up.
Bad in Peterborough.

So I'm supposed to ignore everything and everywhere he's been above average or better and panic that he's doing poorly in an organization notoriously Bad at development?
Beck did not look "amazing" in training camp. He benefitted from low expectations but zero points in the exhibition games does not equate to "amazing". He showed good hockey sense, but had he not had a strong OHL start with Mississauga, no one would have had him in lineups for next year, starting on the third line at 19. Incidentally his ppg numbers in Mississauga cooled off partially even before the trade.

At TCJ he did not look amazing, he looked OK, not out of place.

In his emergency recall his Corsi his numbers were not good, but it is true that he did not embarass himself with any blunders.

I don't care whether Jordan Staal got "only" 1.0 ppg with Peterborough 17 years ago, Beck has EIGHT teammates on the Petes scoring better than him right now.

This does not mean he is "bad". I still think Beck projects as an NHLer. But I highly doubt he makes the Habs at 19 starting as 3rd line center. Anyone betting on that should be getting a huge payout if they are right. The odds should be very low at this point.

Beck is a stud... people just love to rag on the players we draft. The guy has pro game written all over him.
He does have pro game written on him. But he will not be an exceptional offensive player making the NHL on a third line at age 19.

I am pretty sure he plays OHL next year as do most guys drafted outside the top 10.

Agreed, that would be amazing but unlikely... sorry if I grouped you in with the usual mud slingers!

Yes. Slafkovsky, Beck and Hutson looks amazing pick in 2022 draft. Mesar, Rohrer and Engstrom have great potential aswell. Potentially to become a very very good draft by Habs.

He's in OHL next year. We don't have a roster spot for him anyway. And, it won't hurt him to go back.

There's a lot of players that break out offensively in draft+2 in junior that carry it over to NHL. Heck Xhekaj broke out draft+3 offensively and was able to carry some of it over. Here's hoping Beck/Mesar are in top 10 scoring in OHL next season with Rohrer and Guidon not far behind.

Another year in Peterborough may in fact hurt him that's why I think Hughes needs to work that out. You had him for your run, now move him somewhere that players actually develop and become NHLers with a better hit rate than 5%.

Chances are high they trade Beck maybe even this summer. Petes entire team pretty much ages out this summer. None of Othmann, Hayes, Robertson, Avon, Lockhart & Stillman will be back. 6 players at forward. Their top 6.

More than half of their D are 20 this year not including their 2 that are overagers, which means they might turn over their entire D for next season.

Getting Beck was to try to do something this year, which hopefully they do, because that team will be complete trash next year. Beck will be alone.

I'd be letting them know very firmly this year that regardless of what Beck does in this years training camp, he will not be coming back to Peterborough, so line up some options now.

I thought the GM that traded him was under the assumption that he’d be up with the Habs next year and so he didn’t want to lose him for nothing

Mesar first star. His best game in a long time. The most encouraging piece is he looked fired up from the puck drop. Threw a couple hits and used his legs all night to create chances. It looked like he knew it was a big game and was intent on being a factor.
Hopefully things turn around because it's really annoying watching the next 2 picks do so well in men's leagues.

Today is Game 1 of the Best-of-3 Play In series between Engstrom vs. Heineman.

It's also the final regular season games in Liiga. Nurmi's HPK is holding the last of the playoff spots, but if they lose today, they risk being out of the playoffs as they are only a point ahead of 11th place KooKoo and 2 pts ahead of 12th place Jukurit. KalPa is firmly in a playoff spot.

Tourigny & Dukla Trencin playing Game 3 of their Best-of-5 Wild Card series against Michalovce today. The series is tied 1-1. Tourigny has 1 assist after 2 playoff games.

Today in Europe:
- Nurmi @ 9AM ET
- Kapanen @ 10AM ET

SHL Play-In Series - Game 1
- Engstrom vs. Heineman @ 9:15AM ET

Slovak Extraliga Wild Card Series - Game 3
- Tourigny @ 11AM ET

Today in CHL:
- Roy @ 4PM ET
- Mesar vs. Sobolev @ 7PM ET
- Rohrer @ 7PM ET
- Guindon @ 7:30PM ET
- Davidson @ 9PM ET

I forgot to check how Kidney performed during their recent battles against Sherbrooke.

BTW, I read the story about Slimanic’s ordeal. Explains a lot about this wasted season in his case. I think it was on TVA Sports? Not sure.
