No defense or goalies?

Also, if Bolduc can jump straight to the NHL as a C after 3 years pretty much exclusively at LW in Jrs, I’ll eat my hat.

Probably more likely Bolduc and Dean spend most of next season in the NHL and the Blues add a couple more depth forwards (ideally at least 1 is a C with proven above average faceoff ability) to go with Alexandrov and…I guess Walker.
No cheating!

You completely missed the point. Of course anyone can post anything they want but at some point, certain topics become nothing more than beating a dead horse.

It’s the same reason people get tired of talking about Pietrangelo, as we all realize by now that the team misses him. It doesn’t really need to be discussed anymore. Does anybody even talk about wanting Parayko to be meaner anymore? No because it isn’t going to happen, we’ve moved past that.

Same as this. We know you all want a higher draft pick. We f***ing get it already. It doesn’t need to trickle into every thread where people start arguing with somebody if they are happy the Blues won.
I have just moved and started a big new project at work, so I haven't been reading the boards as much, mostly skimming. I didn't realize it had become that big of an issue for people to post it. I've mostly seen it as a joke.

Either way, my point still stands. Complaining about what people post or interacting in any way will only encourage more posting. If you ever truly want a topic to die, let it die. Don't engage. If almost everyone stops engaging with that topic, it will die a natural death. If you complain about, it just adds a little more fuel to the fire.

I really Hope HOFer continue the Steller play throughout the rest of this season and next season and Z continues his great AHL play. Having them both put up .920+ SV% throughout next year really opens up the possibility of moving Binnington next offseason.

Totally agree.

If you stop paying attention to something, then it starts to decay out of existence.

If you stop taking care of your car, it will decay and rust.

If you stop taking of yourself, you will decay and become unhealthy.

If we stop discussing stupid stuff, then the idea will decay and go away.

I’ll be the first to point out that +/- can be a flawed stat but just compare Kyrou to Buchy.

There are 900 players that have played in the NHL this season. Kyrou ranks 900th in +/-. Buchy plays tougher matchups with tougher zone starts and is +12. On a below average team. You have to be absolutely terrible defensively to be your team’s leading scorer, get a ton of o-zone starts and still be the most minus player in the league.

Schenn and Krug are also way at the bottom. 897th and 898th place. Krug has accomplished that feat even though he missed nearly 20 games. I’m not sure I’d want to know what his +/- would be if he played the full season. But getting scored on that often while also facing weaker competition and very high O-zone starts is simply beyond horrible.

Revision 1.1

Vrana Thomas Kyrou
Saad Buchnevich Neighbours
Bolduc Schenn Kapanen
Toropchenko Dean Blais
I simply don’t share your optimism that Bolduc and Dean will make the team out of camp. I think they could both use at least a majority of a season in the AHL first to adjust to the pro game. Maybe 10-20 NHL games as callups but I see it more like this:

Vrana-Thomas-Kyrou
Saad-Buchnevich-Kapanen
Neighbours-Schenn-X
Toropchenko-X-Blais
Alexandrov, Walker

I think the Blues need to make two adds at forward before next season starts. They could be relatively minor (like someone like Acciari) or maybe they’re able to get a legit 2C (ROR, maybe someone like Compher?) and they can move Buchy back to wing. But regardless, I think they need to add at least a couple more forwards and ideally, one of them needs to be good at faceoffs. The only C currently on the team that’s positive in faceoffs is Thomas. The Blues have been getting absolutely killed on faceoffs since trading away ROR and Acciari.

Good for Army.

I wonder if this increases the chances of guys like Parayko, Thomas, Kyrou, Schenn etc. playing for Team Canada.

Exactly. Like I understand being minus on a bad team. -12 is whatever, I can live with that.

-35 is a joke and shouldn’t be acceptable. We’re not even the worst team in the league either, there’s no reason Kyrou should be the worst in the NHL. He has to majorly improve his game next season.

Part of it is the crazy amount of empty net goals we've given up, but that also speaks to how amazing Buchnevich has been, could even throw Thomas in there who is just a -4. Buchnevich would be an even bigger + player, and Thomas would be in the positive.

id be ashamed as a MFer to publish something this idiotic.

for those behind the paywall it says most of the lineup is worth league-minimum contracts; though Buchy is awesome and Rosen is worth a huge UFA contract.
So everyone except Thomas, Kyrou, Buch, and Rosen f***ing suck and aren't NHL players. The Athletic makes me want to stop paying for them more each day. Especially all the shit they are talking about the guys on league min deals like Neighbours.

Tell me your model doesn’t account for usage without telling me your model doesn’t account for usage…

Rosen has earned a pay raise. Unfortunately for him, he will make only 775k next season and he just turned 29.

Would love to see him have another decent season and parlay that into a somewhat decent contract.
