Exact same thing happened to me. I was supposedly a "founding" member of the franchise because I put in a deposit day one. Moved to Denver before the team started and was told no problem, go sell the tickets and just come to some games and you'll be fine. Team wins in year one and its like show up at 50% of the games or we'll rescind your rights and I said what do you want me to do? In the end all I lost was the right to scalp tickets for a profit in season 3 and it wasn't nearly as profitable as season 2. Still they have done everything they can not only to piss off the league but piss off some of their ticket buyers. I didn't get that call for this year but yeah I'd have told them no thanks as well.Went to Vegas recently, first time since the Golden Knights showed up. Also had dinner with one of the locals and he informed me that the Raiders are kind of an afterthought, the Knights are the big draw in town. Even the Aces appear to have a more passionate fanbase than the Raiders, whom I got the distinct impression were being treated as some guys just passing through.
One thing he also added, he bought season tickets, but because he travels a lot for work, he informed them that he would only be able to attend something like 23-30% of the games. They said fine, just sell your tickets through our resale website and not through a third party. He did so, but then before last season he was sent a letter saying his season tix were being revoked because, according to him, it said that he "doesn't represent what it means to be a Golden Knights fan."He finished the story by saying they called him up at the end of THIS season asking if he wanted back in, naturally because they sucked and missed the playoffs, they likely lost some subscribers. He told them to shove it.
What an arrogant f***ing franchise. I hope they have yet another year where they just barely miss and become the new Minnesota Wylde, a team locked in perpetual mediocrity continually claiming and waiving supplementary players with an unsustainable, top-heavy roster.
I don't know if I agree with the Raiders being an afterthought though. I thought they would be but a ton of my friends bought tickets for them and became fans even though they used to root for other teams. Tons of Raiders license plates around Vegas now too and they get a lot of attention from the not so die hard fans around the city. And the NFL is the NFL, no one is going to ignore them even if a lot of the fans going to games are coming from out of town. Knights will always hold loyalties of locals but with the way things went down last year its inevitable they aren't going to be the talk of the town until they start winning again.
