Yeah it really wouldn't shock me if you had teams who in the back of there mind were wondering what if you could transition a skilled forward back there. Basically impossible any other way. Avs won with dogshit goaltending and on the back of the defense. Having that kinda mobility/puck moving/dynamic ability out there like they did just overwhelmed teams.

Actually attempting it tho is pretty wild. Having the balls to actually roll it out would be super interesting. Toronto basically has 0 way to add that kinda dynamic ability naturally so trying to add it with Marner would be pretty interesting. Doubt you actually see in regular situations but if you did they'd deserve a ton of credit if it actually worked.

The Avs already do it to an extent, given how active their Dmen are. It's like having an extra forward in the OZ on the rush.

Yeah, it is like the Avs turned to 11 in theory. I think it can and would work. The issue I see is that the fourth forward really needs a be a special sort of player... Marner is a guy I can see pulling it off. Same with Makar.
